COURSE OBJECTIVES
The student gains a practical knowledge about First Aid and basic principles of providing
premedical First Aid: the law regulations regarding the obligation to First Aid, First Aid Kit,
the chain of survival, standards of conduct according to the European Resuscitation Council
(ERC) guidelines, BLS - Basic Life Support, premedical First Aid in emergency cases and the
most common diseases, psychological First Aid.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Lectures:
1. Law regulations regarding the obligation to First Aid. 1’
2. First Aid Kit. 1’
3. Medical rescue system and the chain of survival. 1’
4. The time of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) & Basic Life Support (BLS) – 1’
basic information.
5. Psychological First Aid & Premedical First Aid in emergency cases and the 1’
most common diseases .

Workshops:
1. ERC algorithm for Basic Life Support (taking care about safety issues, 2’
securing the place of an accident, chest compressions and rescue breaths,
involving the witnesses, notification of the qualified first aid, etc.).
2. Rotating the injured person from belly to his/her back. 2’
3. Performing rescue side position. 2’
4. ‘Reutek's grip’ and dealing with a choking injures person. 2’
5. Test with a course summary. 2’
