Ste e l PLANTS
The steel industry plays an essential industrial role,
forming the basis for many other industries. Given its
economic importance, POSCO E&C has enhanced the
competitiveness of the Korean steel industry through
its excellent technological capabilities. POSCO E&C
has shown outstanding results in business projects not
only in Korea, but also all over the world, thanks to its
advanced technologies, including the plant engineering
expertise accumulated by the construction of POSCO’s
Pohang and Gwangyang integrated steelworks, as
well as the FINEX process, an innovative technology
of the steel industry. As the only total solution provider
in the world to have the competence to perform steel
plant EPC (engineering, procurement & construction),
POSCO E&C is enhancing its global status by per-
forming mega projects overseas, such as Brazil CSP
steelworks, the biggest overseas steel plant order ever
won by a Korean construction company and, integrated
steelworks in Indonesia.

FINEX
The FINEX process is an environmentally friendly iron-making technology
that ensures efficiency, cost reductions, and prevention of emissions
of pollutants. POSCO E&C developed this landmark technological
process with POSCO to supplement the problems of old processes,
such as high costs and the emission of pollutants like sulfur oxides and No. 3 Sintering Plant Revamping, Pohang Works, Korea
nitrogen oxides. Through the development of innovative technologies,
POSCO E&C has contributed to the future of the steel industry.

Zinc Pot, a surface treatment technology

Zinc pot is a core method for melting zinc and maintaining the
temperatures of melted zinc consistently to manufacture galvanized
sheet irons at the continuous galvanizing line (CGL).
Advanced engineering companies have often relied on foreign
specialized companies for this technology. However, POSCO E&C
Prosperity PGL, Taiwan
developed the specialized Zinc Pot through performance tests
by establishing independent design standards and overcoming
problems of the old method.

POSCO E&C strives to obtain energy sources from
fire, light and wind. The company is taking the lead in
creating hope for a new future in which both nature
and humankind will prosper. Winning orders for coal-
fired power plants in Chile and Peru was marked first
among Korean construction companies to enter power
plant markets in Central and South America and, has
proven technical competence of POSCO E&C in the
global energy business. It is expanding its business
field to green energy, such as wind power and solar
energy, and also to the field of future energy, such
as SNG (synthetic natural gas) producing synthetic
gas from coal, and CCS (carbon capture & storage).
POSCO E&C will do its best to enrich human life and
practice the philosophy of symbiosis that connects

POSCO E&C is taking the initiative in connecting the
hearts of communities and linking various worlds
together. POSCO E&C has contributed to Korea’s
balanced territorial development via continuous
large-scale civil engineering projects and, is now
developing local communities all over the world,
including Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, by
building roads, harbors etc… . The effort of POSCO
E&C to bring new productive changes can also be
found in making the world a clearer and cleaner
environment. POSCO E&C not only builds facilities
for the environment such as, sewage & waste water
system, waste energy plants, air-cleaning installations
etc, but also provides total environmental solutions
by actively participating in the O&M (Operation
& Maintenance) field. In addition, POSCO E&C is
speeding up seawater desalination technology
research for practical implementation, to provide
solutions for global water shortages. The facilities
under construction on Gwangyang’s Dongho shoreline
area for seawater desalination, and in Abu Dhabi for
the transfer and storage of fresh water are just the
beginning in providing such solutions.

efficiency and technology. POSCO E&C has entered the RO-type desalination
business, based on its impressive experience in water supply and drainage
facility construction and membraneusing sewage reuse technologies. Key
process technologies in development include high-recovery head end process
technology using ceramic MF membranes, UF-RO direct-coupled process
technology, and osmotic backwashing and maintenance chemical cleaning
technologies. POSCO E&C is also constructing a desalination facility with a

“The Sharp” comes from the musical sign ‘#’: just like how ‘#’ raises
a note by a halftone and also enriches the scale between the two whole
tones, it means that all kinds of values can be created between ‘the
place to sleep’ and ‘the place to work’. POSCO E&C is trying its best
for all customers living in “The Sharp” to live a rich, gorgeous, joyful life.

the style of life. Urban development is a large-scale
comprehensive development project taking place
across all fields, including architecture, civil engineering,
environment, and plant businesses, such as through
buildings, roads, bridges, railroads, and power plants. It
is the centerpiece of general construction in which the
technologies and expertise of the overall construction
business, such as feasibility study, planning,
financing, design, construction, CM, PM, and package
management, are all combined as a whole. POSCO
E&C is acknowledged for its superior ability in this field,
both at home and abroad. Such recognition is due to
its successful outcome in terms of urban development
projects such as Songdo IBD; metropolitan master plan
