The Masterplan

The masterplan for Soham Eastern Gateway will

include new homes, commercial space and generous QUA FEN COMMON 3B
public realm for the local community. It will also
provide a new roundabout onto the A142.

Two options for the new health centre are currently

being considered – a brand new, purpose-built centre
(3A in the masterplan) or the expansion of the existing
centre (3B).

The current masterplan will aim to deliver between 518

and 570 new homes, in accordance with the Local Plan
2015. The number of new homes will be subject to
agreement with the health centre.

No development is proposed for the existing allotment

land, and therefore the allotments will not be relocated. 9

There will be provision in the plans for a new shop

and we are also looking at the possibility of including
a café. They will be located in the proposed mixed-

and physical closeness to the High Street, the Soham
Eastern Gateway project will make a significant
contribution to vitality and economic viability of the
town centre, its shops and services, by increasing
footfall and customers.

Landscape Design

OPEN, GREEN & PLAY SPACES STRATEGY 1 Wetland Gateway

Creating a healthy, environmentally sensitive place
is a major part of our design philosophy. The
landscape design aims to build on the local natural
heritage to create open and green spaces that
reflect the Soham character, complement what is
already here in the town, and are used by all Soham
residents.
2 Community Square (part of the Mixed-use Hub)
The landscape design strategy was informed
by residents feedback during the two open and
green space workshops. You can see below some

Being part of Soham

INTEGRATING WITH
THE TOWN

We believe that the Eastern Gateway development

will become an important part of Soham, that’s why
we are committed to working closely with the local
community to understand how our plans can benefit
Soham and meet local aspirations.

Soham Eastern Gateway is being designed with

excellent pedestrian and cycle connections to the
town centre, with the High Street only five minutes’
walk from the heart of the site. The development is
being designed to deliver spaces that can be enjoyed SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
