Requisitos de pintura

El tipo de pintura debe estar en plena concordancia con ISO12944

1 puente grúa C5-M alta duración >15 años

2 puentes grúas C5-I alta duración >15 años

PRIMER

Primers shall be applied to freshly blast-cleaned steel according to all the Manufacturer's

recommendations.

Two main categories of primer are defined according to the type of pigment they contain:

- Zinc-rich primers, Zn (R), are those in which the zinc dust pigment content of the non-
volatile portion of the paints equal to or greater than 80 % by mass.
- Other primers (Misc.) are those containing zinc phosphate pigments or other anticorrosive
pigments and those in which the zinc dust pigment content of the nonvolatile portion of the
paint is lower than 80 % by mass.

All the zinc dust pigment shall comply with ISO 3549. Zinc chromate, red lead and calcium plum
bates shall not be used.

5.3 PROTECTIVE PAINT SYSTEMS

The protective paint systems to be applied on aboveground steel facilities of the project shall

be in accordance with the schemes presented in Table 2 as well as with the corresponding

norms and standards. Alternate materials may be used only with Contractor’s written

approval. The markings for the paint types are the following:

- EP: Epoxy;
- ESI: Ethyl silicate;
- PUR: Polyurethane, aromatic or aliphatic;
Table 2: Paint systems for aboveground steel facilities of the project

The number of coats quoted in Table 2 is based on the use of airless spray application. The

Supplier of the paint system is responsible for determining the coats that will be needed to

produce the same dry film thickness for the system, regardless of the application procedure

and attending the Manufacturer`s recommendations.

Electrical instruments and equipment, electrical control and distribution boards, boxes,

covers, transformers, mechanical components, etc., can receive a Vendor's standard

painting system. The Vendor's standard painting system shall be suitable for exposure in C5-I

or C5-M based on the location and able to ensure an high (H) expected durability according

to Standard ISO 12944. The Vendor’s standard painting system shall be approved by

Contractor.

6.3 DRY FILM THICKNESS

The following acceptance criteria, as stated in ISO 19840, shall apply:

- The arithmetic mean of all the individual dry film thicknesses shall be equal to or greater
than the nominal dry film thickness (NDFT);
- All individual dry film thicknesses shall be equal to or above 80 % of the NDFT.
- Individual dry film thicknesses between 80 % of the NDFT and the NDFT are acceptable
- provided that the number of these measurements is less than 20 % of the total number of
individual measurements taken;
- All individual dry film thicknesses shall be less than maximum dry film thickness specified by
the Manufacturer.
6.4.1 REMOVAL OF GREASE AND OIL

Solid contaminants, such as ice and plaster or paint material residue, should be removed by
hammering, scraping or scrubbing. Salts and other water-soluble contaminants should be removed
through washing and scrubbing, high-pressure, steam or alkali washing.

Oils and greases should be removed using alkali, emulsion or solvent washing. After alkali or
emulsion washing, the surfaces shall be rinsed clean.

6.4.2 RUST REMOVAL AND SURFACE PREPARATION

The mechanical cleaning methods like wire brushing and blast cleaning, shall comply with the
provided in ISO 8504 and ISO 12944-4. The final rust grade prior to the application of the paint
system should be grade A or B in accordance with ISO 8501-1.

6.4.3 BLAST CLEANING

The relative humidity shall be controlled during blast cleaning. Blast cleaning shall not be performed
when the relative humidity is greater than 70%. The air supply for blast cleaning, pneumatic tools,
and spray equipment shall be tested for oil and water contamination in accordance with ASTM
D4285. All lines shall be tested separately. Testing shall be performed at the beginning and end of
each work shift and at not less than four-hour intervals. In the event that contamination is
discovered, all necessary corrective actions shall be made and the air supply re-tested. Surfaces that
are determined to have been blasted with contaminated air shall be cleaned with solvent and re-
blasted with clean air and abrasive. Coatings that are determined to have been applied using
contaminated air shall be removed and reapplied using clean air.
6.4.4 APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Application shall be performed in compliance with the requirements of the paint work
specification and the applicable ISO 12944-7. The applicators shall be familiar with the usage
instructions and the material safety data sheets of the paints used.
The paint system shall be applied during the work shift immediately after cleaning, when the
surface is dry and the temperature of the work object and relative humidity are in compliance
with the Manufacturer’s recommendations.
The temperature of the surface to be coated shall exceed the dew point of ambient air by at
least 3°C immediately before application, during application and during curing, unless
otherwise specified by the Manufacturer. When any of this conditions is not met, the paint
shall be removed and the surface shall be prepared all over again.

6.5 COLOUR
This paragraph establishes the functional colours to be used for the components in question
in this general specification, where no higher and consequently prevalent normative or
legislative restrictions exist.
The functional colours defined refer only to the finishing coat and do not take account of the
painting system.
The functional colours are defined in accordance with the standards RAL 840 HR. Lifting machines
Overhead travelling cranes, hoists, monorails, etc Traffic Yellow RAL 1023
7 INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT
Tests, Inspections and Checks shall be carried out in accordance with the table below.
