he City of Huntington Beach moved up a notch from last year in Wal-

letHub’s annual ranking of 150 “Best-Run Cities in America” – rank-
ing HB 14th on the list. The next closest California city on the list was
Santa Ana, coming in at #53, then San Diego at #62.
To determine the effectiveness of local leadership, WalletHub’s analysts
compared 150 of the largest U.S. cities based on their operating efficiency.
For each city, the analysts constructed a “Quality of City Services” score
— comprising 33 key performance indicators grouped into six service cat-
egories — that was then measured against the city’s total percapita budget.
Huntington Beach scored #1 in “Quality of City Services,” and ranked #1
in “Education.”
“This national acknowledgement for Huntington Beach being named a
‘Best-Run City’ is a testament to our hard working city leaders and staff
that put our taxpayers first. Running a large city like HB is complex, but
having this kind of validation, and HB being the only California city in
the top 50, makes us proud to know we are operating efficiently,” said City
Manager Fred A. Wilson.

Despite being off to a bad start, Barnato managed to beat the train by a few minutes, but
when the French authorities got wind of his exploits, he was fined for illegally racing and
paid a hefty fine. The story became infamous and the Speed Six became a legendary vehicle.
The engine was restored to perfect running order, using original and custom-parts.
The Blue Train version produced 200 hp, reached a top

No one wants to consider complications when they undergo surgery. Medical
research shows even the most statistically safe surgeries come with risks. Unfor-
tunately, these common surgeries and procedures have high mortality

rates. We’ll also take a quick look at why you should consider surgery.
1. Septal myotomy
Mortality rate: 0.4%
Complications: irregular heart rhythms, blood clots leading to stroke,
aortic valve problems, and removal of too much heart muscle
When done successfully, this surgery reduces the thickening of the heart
muscles. The procedure is quite complicated, and you’ll have to spend
time in the ICU if you survive. Fortunately, this surgery has a low mor-
tality rate of only 0.4% in the first 30 days afterward.
2. Esophagectomy
Mortality rate: 6-7%
Complications: blood loss, pneumonia, and injury to the spleen or the
tracheaAn open esophagectomy, or esophageal resection, is a type of sur-
gery in which a part of the esophagus or the entire esophagus is removed.
The procedure carries a lot of risk due to the reconstruction of the area
