The Energy Crisis. Two words that we often hear in the industry which we are studying this. It has
become very common because many who argued that the reserve has been thinning. The important question is
“What should have occurred to us?”. The question is: “Who should be responsible for it?”. We also ought to know
and be aware of the answer, which is our own.
Talking about responsibility, this is a golden opportunity and honor for us to present the 6 th OGIP 2016.
The first OGIP was held in 2011 and continuously, with full confidence we are trying to increase the values
contained therein of all aspects of existing and finally arrived at this sixth OGIP 2016. OGIP 2016 is one of the
media that contribute and participate as one would answer the question in the first paragraph.
This year, OGIP 2016 theme is “Energy Evolution”. See the development of a more modern era and ever
increasing energy needs we face a situation where the need to continue to survive. It was encouraging to
inevitably existing energy should continue to grow both in terms of its source or technology. So in other words,
we must evolve to survive where the evolution is the evolution of energy.
By meeting students and company expertises in the same event, OGIP 2016, we have the confidence
that this is the place where students and professionals can discuss and talk about the coming challenges in the
oil and gas industry and it is also to synchronize their vision from an educational perspective and the real
circumstances, where it happens when the company is becoming our second home in the future.
We are very confident and even more so that this event will be an event the student and the student
who engaged in the largest oil and gas with high international scale. Here you will meet with friends from
various countries and professional and able to exchange opinions and discuss for the future of world energy
much better. The future is in our hands.
We with great enthusiasm waiting for you in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the city with an abundance of
culture.
Sincerely,
Handy Hermanjaya Setiawan
Chairman of OGIP 2016

PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT
COMPETITION
OIL AND GAS INTELLECTUAL PARADE 2016
Game Format
1) The games will be single elimination in which teams compete and the winning team
(team with most points at end of the round) will advance to the next round.
2) There will be three stages of competition: elimination, semifinal, and final round.
Tournament Officials
1) Judges: Each Competition will have three judges. All judges' decisions concerning
compliance to the rules and awarding of points will be final.
2) Moderator / Host: Each Competition will have a moderator. There may be two moderators
to share the responsibility. The moderator(s) will read the questions, consult judges as
needed to determine the correctness of answers, award and deduct points, and
otherwise enforce the rules of competition. The judges have right to decide whether
moderator can repeat the question or not.
3) Scorekeeper: Each game will have at least one scorekeeper. These scorekeeper(s) will
keep the official score and individual statistics.
4) Timekeeper: Each game will have one timekeeper. The timekeeper will enforce time limits
and supervise the game clock.
Equipment
1) All games will be played such that each participant in the current game has a
"buzzer" – an electronic device that determines which participant buzzes in to
answer a question first.
a. Each participant is responsible for monitoring whether his or her own buzzer is
operating properly throughout the game.
b. If a buzzer malfunctions, only the current toss-up question or the last completed toss-
up question can be replayed, subject to the moderator’s ruling that the malfunction
impacted play of that question.
2) Participants will be provided paper and pencils.
3) Calculators will be provided by Committee. To ensure fairness, competitors will use only
the provided calculators.
4) Participants may not use reference materials during the game.
Time
1) Tardiness of more than 5 minutes from the scheduled match time may result in a forfeit,
unless the lateness is the fault of the tournament, or the tournament officials are
satisfied with other good cause.
2) Every round is limited by the numbers of matters not the time.
3) If too long to answer the questions then the judges and a moderator may consider these
questions cannot be answered by participants
4) The clock used by the game officials is the official time and is not contestable.
Questions
1) Each game consists of three types of questions: compulsory question, toss up
question, and bonus question.
a. Compulsory Questions
• Each team is given 5 compulsory questions which must be answered
• If the team can answer the compulsory question the team will get 10 points and if
the team cannot answer or answer the question incompletely the team will not
get the points or add points. if the answer wrong then there is no point reduction.
b. Toss-up Questions
• A player may “buzz in” (using his/her buzzer) to answer a toss-up question at any
point after the moderator has begun reading the question. There will be no signaling
between team members (or from the audience) to indicate who will buzz in on a
toss-up question. Restricted signaling includes verbal signals, written signals,
hand motions, head motions, eye contact, and anything else construed as
signaling by the tournament officials. Violation of the signaling rules will result in
forfeiture of opportunity to answer the toss-up. Repeated violations can result in
ejection and/or disqualification per the “Ethics and Conduct” rules.
• Once a player has buzzed in, a tournament official will verbally recognize the player
by team name and contestant name. If a player repeatedly responds before
being recognized, tournament officials reserve the right to invalidate that
player’s response, turning the question over to the other team, if applicable.
• The player who buzzed in and is recognized by the moderator may NOT confer
verbally or otherwise with teammates (or spectators). Should this occur, the
player will lose the chance to respond to the question, and the opposing team
will be allowed to answer the question. Alternately, the question may be
thrown out if necessary at the discretion of tournament officials. Repeated
violations can result in ejection and/or disqualification per the “Ethics and
Conduct” rules.
• If a player buzzes in before the moderator has finished reading, the moderator will
stop at that point. If the answer given is incorrect, the moderator will finish
the question for the other team only.
• An answer to a toss-up must begin within 5 seconds after the player has been
recognized. An answer started after the timekeeper has said "Time" will be
treated as no answer. Ties between the player and the timekeeper are decided in
favor of the player.
• Players have 5 seconds to buzz in after the moderator has finished reading the
toss-up. If the player answers incorrectly, the other team will then have 5 additional
seconds to buzz in. Some questions may permit more time, which will be noted
specifically by the question. • Decisions as to whether players have exceeded the
allotted time to buzz in or to answer may be rendered only by the tournament
officials and are not contestable.
• Each toss-up question is worth 10 points.
• Score will be reduced 10 points if the answer is wrong.
c. Bonus Questions
• Team will get a bonus question if the answer is right in toss-up questions
• On bonus questions, the team captain will give the answer or explicitly designate
another team member to give the answer. Any other player’s answer will not be
accepted.
• A team has 25 seconds to answer a bonus question. The 25 seconds starts when
the moderator finishes reading the question. If the moderator is asked to repeat
the question – the time will still be counting down. After 25 seconds, the
moderator will prompt the team for an answer. Once prompted, the team captain
(or the team member he designates) must immediately begin answering or
forfeit the opportunity to answer.
• A team may begin its answer before the moderator is finished reading all of a bonus
question. In such cases, the moderator stops reading when the team begins its
answer. If the bonus contains another part, and the first part was answered
correctly, the moderator then reads the next part of the question.
• Each bonus question is worth up to 20 points.
2) Questions are intended to test the contestants’ knowledge of petroleum engineering
and the petroleum industry. Questions may include history, trivia, current events,
technical questions, calculations, and problem solving.
3) Suggested (but not all inclusive) list of study materials as possible sources of
questions:
a. Academic: Technical, Fundamentals of Petroleum Engineering
b. Non-Academic: Industry Statistics, History, Trivia, Current Events
Correct Answers
1) The moderator will accept only the first answer given by a player.
2) Common acronyms and abbreviations are often acceptable (e.g., chemical symbols,
state postal abbreviations, organizational acronyms), unless they appear in the
question, in which case the moderator may prompt the player to expand the
acronym or abbreviation.
Results
1) Results of all the competition will be announced and awards will be distributed immediately
following the competition.
2) Similarity score of the final event, tournament officials will give you one question.
Buzzer rang the first team given the opportunity to choose to answer or throw a question
to the opponent. if the answer given is wrong, the team who are given the opportunity to
answer will lose and the opponent will automatically win the match.
3) There will be three winners for smart competition.

4. Every university is limited to send 2 teams (maximum).
Judges:
Committees will choose 8 the best entry forms (blueprint of the oil rig model &
project’s brief). On event day, all 8 groups have to present their models to the judges
and also there will be testing and assessments on the oil rig model.
Model Specification:
Each participant has completed to build an oil rig model before the event
day based on an oil and gas platform technology.
The materials used to build the oil rig model are freed to the participants
(can be anything, i.e. wood, steel, polystyrene, etc.).
The rig model to be constructed should range from between 600 ±25mm
length and maximum 550mm height.
Load weight: 5-25 kg.
Criteria of Assessments:
Lightness and Strength (25%)
The oil rig model will be weighed to test the lightness of it. Then, 5kgs
weight will be put on the oil rig model to test the strength of the model.
The lower ratio lightness to strength, the higher score will be given to the
participant. Finally, the oil rig model will be put into water to test whether
the oil rig model proper for offshore or not.
Creativity and Build-Ability (25%)
This category is judged based on the creativity of the participants in
building the oil rig. Participants are free to put their ideas. Every new
innovation applied will increase the final score. Build-ability is referred
whether the oil rig model proposed is feasible or not in real world.
Detailed Model (15%)
Detailed model here means the oil rig model have to include any
equipment used in oil rig (i.e. office, mud tank, etc.). The more detail
model, the higher score will be given.
Multimedia Presentation (35%)
The multimedia presentation is based on participant’s creativity in which
contain project brief (basic concept, creativity-innovation/new features,
types of materials used for every part, economical side, how the oil rig
model faces the future oil and gas challenges). Every group will be given
15 minutes to present oil rig model and 10 minutes for Q&A section. Note:
