falling of hair!!

( common irritating problem)

Hair is formed in minute pockets in skin, called follicles. An upgrowth at the b
ase of the follicle, called the papilla, actually produces hair, when a special
group of cells turn amino acids into keratin, a type of protein of which hair is
made. The rate of production of these protein "building blocks" determines the
hair growth.
The average growth rate is about 1.2 cm per month, growing fastest on women betw
een the ages 15-30.
The most important cause of fall of hair is inadequate nutrition.
Persons lacking vitamin B6 lose their hair & those those deficient in folic acid
often becomes completely bald. But the hair grows normally after the liberal in
take of these vitamins.
Stress such as worry, anxiety & sudden shock n leads to a severe tension in the
skin of the scalp. This adversely affects the supply of essential nutrients requ
ired for the healthy growth of the hair. General debility, caused by severe or l
ong standing illnesses like typhoid, syphilis, chronic cold, influenza & anemia.
And ofcourse, Unclean conditions of the scalp can also cause loss of hair. It we
akens the hair roots by blocking the pores with the collected dirt.
Heredity is another predisposing factor which may values hair to fall.
The healthy condition of the hair depends on the intake of sufficient amounts of
essential nutrients in the daily diet.
Hair is made of protein & adequate protein is required for luxuriant hair. It is
supplied by milk, buttermilk, yogurt, soyabean, eggs, cheese, meat & fish. a de
ficiency of vitamins A, B, iron, copper & iodine.
Lack of inositol causes loss of hair. Any person having trouble with his or her
hair should eat foods rich in inositol such as yeast, liver & molasses.
Women are generally deficient in iodine & vitamin B1, either which can slow the
circulation to the scalp to such an extent that the hair may fall out. Women sho
uld keep their diet adequate in iodine, vitamin B & iron .
Increasing the intake of protein, particularly liver, wheat germ & yeast, & supp
lementing the diet with a teaspoon of inositol daily usually stops one's falling
of hair.
Home Remedies
* Vigorous rubbing of the scalp with fingers after washing the hair with cold wa
ter, is an effective treatment of the loss of hair. The scalp should be rubbed v
igorously till it starts to tingle with the heat. It will activate the sebaceous
glands & energize the circulation of blood in the affected areas, making the ha
ir grow healthy.
* Indian Gooseberry (Amla) oil, prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconu
t oil, is considered as a valuable hair tonic for enriching hair growth. A mixtu
re of equal quantity of fresh amla juice & lime juice used as a shampoo stimulat
es hair growth & prevents hair loss.
* A mixture of lettuce & spinach juice is said to help the growth of hair.
* The juice of alfalfa with carrot & lettuce juice prevents falling of hair.
* Daily application of refined coconut oil mixed with lime water, prevents loss
of hair.
* Application of the juice of green coriander leaves on the head is also benefic
* Mustard oil, boiled with henna leaves, is useful in healthy growth of hair. Ab
out 250 gms of mustard oil should be boiled in tinned basin. About 60 gms of hen
na leaves should be added to this oil & are thus burnt in oil. The oil should th
en be filtered through a cloth & well stored in a bottle.
* Application of coconut milk all over the scalp & massaging it into the hair ro
ots, helps in nourishing the hair & promotes hair growth. The coconut milk is pr
epared by grinding coconut shavings & squeezing it well.
* Washing the hair with a paste of cooked black gram dal (urad dal) & fenugreek
(methi) lengthens the hair.
* A paste made from pigeon pea or red gram can also be applied regularly with be
neficial results on bald patches.
*Regular use of caster oil as hair oil helps in the treatment of loss of hair.
* Seeds of lime & black pepper seeds, ground to a fine paste applied on the patc
hes is one of the valuable remedies. The paste has a mild irritant action. This
increases blood circulation in affected area promotes the hair growth.

1.Shampoo hair regularly with shikakai, amia and reetha nuts.

2.Combine together five tablespoons of pure, undiluted coconut milk with one tab
lespoon of lemon juice. Massage well into scalp. Allow it to dry. Wash off thoro
