1. Scope :

This work shall consists construction of cast in situ minor bridges with approved drawings ,which
includes excavation, foundation ,raft, wall and slab constructions for the Doubling between
Raebareli and Amethi Stations.

2. References:

 Contract Agreement between RVNL and KEC-ABEPL(JV)

 RVNL Specifications with latest amendments.
 IRS / RDSO CBC Code.
 Approved Drawings.
 IS 456 with latest amendments Plain and reinforced concrete
 IS 1786:2008 High strength deformed steel bars & wires for concrete reinforcement
 IS 516 Method of test for strength of concrete.
 IS 383 Coarse and fine aggregate from natural sources for concrete.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Sr. Bridge Engineer / Site In charge is responsible for entire activity for construction of
Minor bridge works.
4. MATERIALS & EQUIPMENTS:
MATERIALS:
 Grade of concrete as per approved drawings and approved design mix
 Fe500 reinforcements
 Form Work and scaffoldings materials arrangements as per RVNL Specifications.
 Materials shall be approved before starting the works.

EQUIPMENTS:
 Mixer machine with weigh batcher / Batch Mix Plant
 Transit Mixer
 Vibrator and Needles
 Water Tanker
 Excavator
 DG for power supply
 Lifting Sling
 D shackle

5. Procedure for Box type

1. Marking of layout of minor bridge for excavation and recording the existing ground level.
2. Excavation shall be carried out up to required depth by manually or Hydraulic Excavator as
per site conditions. If spongy soil or unsuitable material found the same will be removed and
shall be replaced & compacted with granular materials. The base of PCC shall be firm surface
with required level.
3. Before laying of PCC, The surface shall be sprinkled with water.
4. Marking shall be done for raft and walls over the PCC surface.
5. Reinforcement laying and tieing shall be done as per drawing and ensure proper cover shall be
maintained.
6. Fixing of formwork shall be done for Raft, Walls, Slab as in different stages.
7. Weep holes shall be provided as per drawings.
8. Concrete pouring shall be done by Manual/by chute/by concrete pump.
9. Grade of concrete shall be done as per approved drawing.
10. Proper shear key shall be made for concrete joint.
11. De shuttering shall be done as per RVNL Specification as shown below

a) Walls, columns and vertical 24 to 48 hours as may be decided by the engineer.

Faces of all structural members

b) Slabs (props left under) 3 days

c) Beam soffits (props left under) 7 days

d) Removal of props under slabs:

1) Spanning up to 4.5 m 7 days

2) Spanning over 4.5 m 21 days

e) Removal of props under slabs:

1) Spanning up to 6 m 14 days
2) Spanning over 6 m 21 days

12. Curing shall be carried out for 14 days.

13. Adequate concrete cubes shall be casted for testing purposes.
14. The above sequences shall be followed for walls, slabs and Retaining walls.
15. Check list for pre and post concreting has been incorporated in the QAP.

6. HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:

 Safety stewards shall be engaged for monitoring to avoid unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
 All the staff and workmen shall be provided with necessary personal protective equipment
(Safety helmets, safety hand gloved safety shoes ,safety belts, safety goggles ,retro –reflective
jackets etc) at site.
 Area Lighting shall be provided in work place.
 Working area shall be barricaded properly and necessary display boards shall be provided.
 No stranger shall be allowed in the vicinity of the working area
