ABSTRACT

Education is a vital element on the pace of social, political and economic

development of any nation. It has been observed that many successful students have
been produced by different educational facilities that practices different teaching methods.
To ensure the production of competitive students, the assurance of the best teaching
method is necessary. In the advent of global development, modern technology paved its
way in the instructional materials of today. This opens a need to analyze the advantages
and disadvantages of the traditional and modernized ways of teaching for the sake of the
students, teachers, school administrators, curriculum planners, parents, the government
and future researchers.

Based on the data gathered from the survey and interview conducted from the
students and an instructor of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Laboratory High
School, the study concluded that in the traditional method, the materials needed are more
available but it provides a greater discomfort for the teachers. On the other hand, the
modernized method is more student-centered so the retention and comprehension of
information for the students are more observed. However, the lack of materials is a major
setback.

The results that were analyzed lead to an understanding of the need of flexible,
compassionate and empathetic teachers that would see through the diversity of the
students and their different needs. Teachers must be able to adjust to this particular
strategic teaching to ensure that every student would receive the knowledge and wisdom
they deserve. Any method of teaching is plausible but not everything is beneficial.
