Bawang Merah & Bawang Putih

A long time ago, there lived a couple husband and wife. They had a very
beautiful daughter, named Bawang Putih. Her father was a seller, he likes a long
trip. They have a neighbour who is a widow and her daughter named Bawang
Merah.
Mama Red was jealous of Mama White because Mama White is rich.
Bawang Merah was jealous of Bawang Putih because Bawang Putih is more
beautiful than her. Once, Papa White wanted to go to the city.

Papa White: “Mama, I will go to the city for a few days.”

Mama White: “I just want to say be careful there!”

The next morning......

Papa White: “Mama, Bawang Putih, I will go first, take care of yourself. I love you.”
Mama White: “I love you too, and be careful, Papa!”
Bawang Putih: “Be careful dad, I love you too!”

Papa White left for the city. A few days later, When Bawang Putih went
to the river, Mama Red and Bawang Merah started their evil plan.

Mama Red: “Bawang Merah, what if we poisoned Mama White?”

Bawang Merah: “Yes, I agree. We must kill her right now!”

Mama Red put poison in food she made. She gave the poisoned food to
Mama White.

Mama Red: “Mama White, I made food for you.”

Bawang Merah: “Yes, please eat it.”
Mama White: “Oh... Thank you very much!”

Mama White brought the food inside the house and eat it. After eating
the food, she felt dizzy and fainted.

Mama White: “Help me, help!”

​ A few minutes later, Bawang Putih came back from the river and saw her
mother lying down on the floor.

Bawang Putih: “Mama... Why are you lying here?”

Mama White: “Umh... Bawang Putih....”
Bawang Putih: “Mama...Mama, are you okay?”
Mama White: “Bawang Putih… I’m sorry.... I can’t keep you anymore…. take care of
yourself, kid!”
Bawang Putih: “Mama.... don’t leave me, Ma!” ( crying sound effect)

Bawang Putih’s cry was heard by Mama Red and Bawang Merah, they
laugh happily. A few days later, Papa White came.

Papa White: “Hello everybody!! I’m home!”

Bawang Putih: “Papa...Mama...Mama, pa...!”
Papa White: “Calm down... What’s wrong with Mama?”
Bawang Putih: “Mama… passed away”
Papa White: “...”

​ A few months later...

Papa White: “Bawang Putih, I want to tell you something.”

Bawang Putih: “What is that?”
Papa White: “I want to marry Mama Red, so she will take care of you.”
Bawang Putih: “Okay, if that’s what you want.”

Papa White married Mama Red, then they lived together. Not long after
their marriage, Papa White wanted to go to the city again. (gambar pelamin +
kompang)

Papa White: “Mama Red, I want to go sell things in the city. Please take care of Bawang
Merah and Bawang Putih.”
Mama Red: “Okay, darling. I will take care of them well.”
Papa White: “Bawang Putih, Bawang Merah, what you want from the city?”
Bawang Merah: “I want many beautiful dresses, shoes, and jewelry.”
Bawang Putih: “I just want a white rose and your safe.”
PapaWhite: “Okay, I will get you asked for. Bye!”
MR, BP, BM: “Bye..bye,papa!”

After their father went to the city, Mama Red and Bawang Merah began
to act rude with Bawang Putih.

Mama Red: “Putih! You must wash the clothes, dishes, and do all kinds of housework!”
Bawang Merah: “Wash my clothes until they clean with no stains, polish my shoes and
iron my clothes!”
Bawang Putih: “Y-yes, mom & bawang merah!”
MR and BM: “Quickly!!!”

​ Every day, Bawang Putih was always abused by Mama Red and Bawang
Merah. When Bawang Putih went to the river, she missed to mother. Then, she
heard a sound of a gold fish...

Gold Fish: “Help...Help me! Can you help me, sweet girl?”
Bawang Putih: “Who and where are you?”
Gold Fish: “I’m here. Can you take down this thing from my mouth?”
Bawang Putih: “What?? You can talk? Oh, okay I will help you!”
Gold Fish: “Puah! Thank you very much, good girl! My name is Ikan Mas, what’s your
name?”
Bawang Putih: “Bb-bb-Bawang Putih. How you can talk?”
Gold Fish: “Forget it, Bawang!

Bawang Putih has a new best friend. One day, Bawang Merah saw
Bawang Putih chatting with the fish. After Bawang Putih left, Bawang Merah
caught the fish and fried it. After that, she gave the bone of Ikan Mas to Bawang
Putih.

Bawang Putih: “What are you doing to my friend?”

Bawang Merah: “Friend?? That’s a fish! Are you crazy?”

​ awang Putih made a grave for her friend. And then, a miracle

happened, on the fish grave grew a gold plant. The news was heard by the
kingdom. The kingdom sent a guard to take the gold plant for medicine for the
Queen.

Guard 1: “We are from the kingdom. We want to take the plant for medicine for the
Queen.”
BM and MR: “Yes, take it.”
Guard 2: “Okay, I will. Ugggh... I can’t.”
Guard 3: “Huh, you’re weak! Let me try! Uggggh...hah..hah.. It’s very hard.”

​ The guard, Bawang Merah and Mama Red couldn’t take the gold plant.
Then, came Bawang Putih.

Bawang Putih: “Let me take it!”

Mama Red: “Bawang Putih! You must-
Guard 2: “Ssssstt...”

Bawang Putih managed to take the plant and give it to the guards.
Bawang Merah and Mama Red were angry with Bawang Putih. 3 days later, the
Queen has recovered.

Prince: “How are you feeling?”

Queen: “I’m better now, I think you need go to the girl and say thank you!”
Prince: “Yes, mom. I will go there. Guards, get me to that girl’s house!”
Guard 1, 2, 3: “Okay, prince.”

The prince and the guards went to Bawang Putih’s house.

Mama Red: ​Bawang Merah, look at that! (point to Prince).
Who’s coming? (filled with wonder)
Bawang Merah: Yes, mom. It’s likely that he is a prince.
Oh, he looks dashing and handsome. (with amazed face)
Mama Red: Calm down dear. Mom knows what he wants here.

Bawang Merah: Is it true, mom? Please help me, mom!

Bawang Merah: Why does the prince prefer Bawang Putih? Bawang Putih is very crafty
and likes to play with boys, not like me.
I am good, obedient, and loyal (with happy smile).
After all she’s ugly, not like me.

Prince: Yes, you’re right. You are beautiful, sweet and attractive, miss.
But unfortunately, my heart longs for Bawang Putih. Please call Bawang
Putih.

Bawang Merah: Huh? Why should I call Bawang Putih? (as she stomped).
Putih!! Putih!!
Bawang Putih: Yes, sist-
Bawang Merah: We have guests. So, please help me serve some food and drinks for our
guest.

They went to kitchen.

Bawang Merah: You must give these cookies to the prince.

Bawang Putih: Oh, okay

​ Bawang Putih served the cookies to the prince.The prince ate the cookies.

Prince: Wow,the cookies are so delicious!

​Bawang Putih smiled. Bawang Merah and her mom looked at each other. Suddenly,
the prince fainted

Everyone gathers around the prince.

Bawang Putih: Oh no! What happened to you?

Bawang Merah and her mom smiled cynically.

Bawang Putih: Oh God! Did I kill him? Please help me! What should I do Bawang
Merah, Mama Red?

BM, MR: We don’t know. You were the one who gave him the cookies! You killed him!

Bawang Putih: No, I didn’t. Ugh…

Bawang Putih went to the bathroom.

Bawang Putih: Oh God! What should I do? Someone, please help me! I’m so scared.

Suddenly, white fog appeared and a Fairy God Mother came from the toilet

Bawang Putih: The prince in the living room fainted when I gave him the cookies that

front and give it to me.

Bawang Putih (to person who gives the ____): Thank you very much.
Bawang Putih goes back to the bathroom.

Bawang Putih: Fairy God Mother, I already have what you wanted.

Fairy God Mother: Ahhh, thank you dear.

Fairy God Mother waves her wand and they turn into a handkerchief.

Fairy God Mother: Slap the prince with this and he will wake up.

Bawang Putih: Thank you very much.

She takes the handkerchief and goes into the living room.

Mama Merah: Hmph, finally you’re back.

Bawang Merah: Where did you even go to?

Bawang Putih ignores what they said and goes towards the prince. She takes the
handkerchief and slaps the prince with it a few times before the prince woke up.

Prince: Ughhh, what happened? Why am I here?

Bawang Putih: You fainted after eating the cookies that Bawang Merah told me to give
to you.

Prince: Are you Bawang Putih?

Bawang Putih: Yes, I am.

The prince took out a (bouquet of flowers/a ring) and presented it to Bawang
Putih.

Prince: You are the one I’ve been looking for. Will you marry me?

Everyone was shocked.

Bawang Putih: Yes, of course I will, your highness.

Bawang Putih was brought to the palace to meet the queen.

Prince: “Mom, this is the girl.”

Queen: “Is that you, sweet girl?”
Bawang Putih: “Yes, Queen.”
Prince: “Mom, I propose to marry her. Do you give us your blessing?”
Queen: “Of course, son. I give my blessing”

​ he next morning, the wedding ceremony was held.

Bawang Merah and her Mom looked at the guard.

The guard arrested them

Merah’s mom : What?!!

Bawang Merah : Mom, I don’t want to be in the prison!!

Guard 3: Follow us to the police station now!

The prince and Bawang Putih were getting married and felt excited (sambung
pasang lagu)

Finally, Bawang Putih and the prince lived happily ever after.
