Welcome from the Chief Editor
Dear readers of Imperio,
Welcome back to a new and exciting year.
The first year of the new millennium, a historic year,
a year with elections for a new Emperox,
a year with new trends and new faux pas to delight High Society.

Like last year the goal of Imperio is clear.

We are here to entertain you and your family with the thrilling stories of High Society.
You will follow along with the most important people.
You will glimpse the secret lives of the rich and famous.
You will accompany us to the most luxurious and notable events of this Empire.

The Special Report of the New Year covers the New Year’s Gala
hosted by House Eridanus on Imperial Prime.
The Eridanus embassy, a giant skyscraper with a vivid view of the royal city sets our scene.
The attendants, a Who’s Who of celebrities, handpicked by House Eridanus.
And Eridanus didn’t shy away from the task.
They fostered nearly all of High Society for several days in this beautiful location.

Of course there was action: duels, dates, flirting, shocking announcements—even a kidnapping.
But you have to keep reading to find out how it all went down.
Yours Grigori Kaan

Events of the Last year
By G. Kaan

The year 3199 was a year of suspense, a year of waiting for the new millennium, a year of hoping for a
new Emperox to bring peace and unity. In 3199, people just wanted this century to be over and for the
Synths to be finally gone. And this was visible everywhere. The celebration at the New Year’s Gala wasn’t
just about the new millennium, it was also a farewell to the last year.

That is why Imperio now brings to you the trends, mistakes, and highlights of the last year, all of which
show 3199 in all its “glory.”

Trends
Imperio invites you to remember the most important trends of the last year so that we may mourn their
untimely demise or ensure that some of them never offend our senses again.

The most important trend of 3199 was SHIFT Fabrics. These garments graced every event with nobles
showing — or hiding every bit of modesty available. Who wouldn’t remember all the multi-layered
garments that would reveal or hide layers as SHIFT fabrics changed their transparency based on the
owner’s whims? Or more, interestingly, who will ever forget those desperately clueless socialites who
didn’t quite grok the purpose of Stealth fashion, leading to some of the most interesting reveals of the
season?

Trends that we at Imperio don’t want to see again are Vantablack and Polygonaline, a line of items made
with large flat, faceted sides made of the thickest fabric. While it was fun to see nobles move like robots,
it doesn’t lend itself to the elegance that most High Society events enjoy.

While we don’t know how Trickline and their light effects got so important, they were at least more useful
than the Sound Staves. These walking sticks made different sounds depending how they were tapped,
and they made children out of grown men with all their unmusical tapping.

To end the trends of 3199, we A trend that experienced a sudden and untimely

great idea, needs to be fired.
We at Imperio feel that
everyone with Clap Shoes
should burn the abominable
things and never talk about
wearing them again.

Mistakes
Many mistakes were made in the year 3199. We will never forget the birthday celebration of Shinkan 夾
白 Herschel Corwin, where multiple nobles injuring themselves jumping through a broken window and a
Crux Officer closed the party down to save their lives. Or the time Void-Walker Pyxis von Owlington tried
to impress a Lady, while one of his former liaisons was in the same room, leading to the loss of his arm.

Imperio has shown you so many of these mistakes, we could fill 20 Special Reports with them, but here
are the top three mistakes of the last year, as selected by Grigori Kaan:

• ACRE Director G. Orlov by kidnapping himself from an ACRE grand ball. No one really knows how it
happened, but the Director was later found to have staged his own kidnapping without really knowing
why he did it. Using gas that leads to loss of memory isn’t always the best idea.
• Immerser Vela Hali Gammon getting caught by one of our reporters with an ACRE Director at her own
wedding. Let us just say that both the groom and her raging Aquilan father were not amused.
• Schafrichter Crux Lucius Corwin wearing this outfit to the Great Journey

“Whoever told him that he should wear it, maybe it was

his mother, maybe it was his grandmother, most likely it
was himself, it shows that you can be too stupid for
clothing.” Persephonia Grey, PNN Correspondent

Highlights
While many will think about the Great Journey or the Emperox’s birthday when they think about the
Highlights of 3199, we at Imperio look at the smaller things of this last year. Imperio has shown you some
of the great Highlights, like the marriage between Transactos € Artjom River and Horuset Lyra Kara
Derson and their oaths to each other. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the room.

Others might think about the nomination party of Legate Aquila Mara Binson — the greatest party that
was ever thrown — as a highlight, but we at Imperio have found our Highlights of the year in other places.

Here are our top three Highlights of 3199:

• Oracle Serpens Justim Perre proposing to Bio-Engineer Δ Asodd Clezal after saving him from his
kidnappers above Maja. The whole thing was turned into a blockbuster “Redemption” on Phase.tv for
a reason.
• Seeker Pyxis Thera Grigers returning after a three year search for a new system and celebrating her
return by making the most-seen documentary in the last century with help from PRISM.
• Ellion Mohammed of Trilliant AAE - Cybernetics showing off the new Cyberware line from Trilliant by
making a charity auction for crippled veterans of the Synth wars.

As you see the year of 3199 was a thrilling one, a year that was over before it could even really start. So
we here at Imperio at looking forward to 3200. May it be as glorious as expected.

Pirates Attack
By H. Avaritia

In a shocking turn of events, pirates and terrorists attempted to infiltrate Imperial Prime during the New
Year’s Gala — kidnapping a prestigious Lyran noble and attacking the Eridanus embassy. Demands were
sent by the pirates and negotiations were ongoing while a search effort was underway. Within hours, a
joint Aquila-Crux effort led to the safe retrieval of the abducted noble.

However, some of the pirates simultaneously dug under the Eridanus Vault, where they entered into a
firefight with security forces and escaped with the vault’s contents. Fleeing with their ill-gotten gains on
a waiting spaceship, the pirates returned to attack the roof of the embassy with a rocket launcher and
other weaponry. It appears that this was an unsuccessful attempt to extract a terrorist infiltrator who still
remained in the embassy.

We at Imperio have asked the Chief of Security, Oberster Inquisitor Crux Oelberg Reinhild, to give us the
details on these events:

Oberster Inquisitor, what efforts were taken to guarantee the safety of all guests?

By the request of House Eridanus, who coordinated the event, Gala security was comprised of delegations
from House Crux, House Aquila, and Deathless Conflict Solutions. All security personnel were hand-
picked and screened by House Crux to ensure only the most qualified were enlisted, and organized in
overlapping shifts for optimal communication and reliability. All noble guests were granted the ability to
call upon a member of security at a moment’s notice, whenever and wherever they desired.

In spite of all these efforts, how was a kidnapping and an attack by a pirate vessel allowed to happen
on the same day, both events within hours of each other?

While the investigation is still ongoing and certain details are classified, I can say with certainty that a
rogue element from House Eridanus with ties to the former-house Cygnus had consorted with the
Vagrant menace and gave them opportunities to cause chaos. Rest assured that this rogue element has
been dealt with and does not represent House Eridanus as a whole in the slightest. In fact, reparations
have been generously made by House Eridanus, as is customary for this event, to all guests who may
have had a negative experience.

Do you feel that this kind of attack could happen again, or have the necessary lessons been learned
to avoid this in the future?

Rest assured that the chances of repetition of such incidents are incredibly low, nigh impossible. The
incidents have been meticulously analyzed in a step-by-step fashion, and security protocols have already
been updated to reflect these findings. Our defenses have only grown stronger in the wake of this event.

A PRISM Production/Made on Echo/Produced by PNN 7

In spite of the disturbances, what do you feel like your security team can be proud of?

Despite the team being formed from several groups with different modus operandi, the team worked
exceptionally well together. In addition, response time was high and the guests were able to enjoy the
Gala regardless of any security concerns. At the end of the day, that’s what matters the most to us.

The Kidnapped
Horuset Lyra Sethis Montgomery, approximately 104 years old, used to be a leading diplomat in House
Lyra. He has remained a fundamental constant in society life on Imperial Prime despite his unexpected
kidnapping. Rescue efforts were swiftly undertaken, and while he was found with a terrorist bomb
attached to his body with a timer, Montgomery was safely extracted and the bomb did not detonate.

Regardless of these attempts to disrupt the New Year Celebrations, none of the noble guests were hurt
in any way, and in this reporter’s mind, the event marks an eventful start to the New Year for an Empire
rebuilding after the War Against the Artificials.

The Houses’ Spouses
By J.Ellenwood

The New Year’s festivities are always a place for the Nobles to mingle and find a partner, or to meet
someone that was a former one. While we at Imperio have always kept you up to date on the newest
dating rumors, we also have showed you how easy it is in the dating scene to lose each other.
We will show you some of the new dating trends at this Eridanus Gala. While many Nobles tried to keep
their flirtations secret, some weren’t as secret as they thought.

We have seen many nobles keep their flirtations up at the garden on

The garden maze
the top of the Eridanus embassy, also many others have joined them
up there in the starlit bar as well. It seems most secret pairs tried to
hide their affection in the garden maze, but our reporters still caught
glimpses of them hiding inside. Something new seems to be the love
between Nobles of the Houses Minor and the Houses Major.
How will their family feel when they realize their children are dating
below their status? We are expecting duels and dead corpses to
happen at some point.

Many couples used the Lyran concert to finally embrace their loved ones and dance with them. While
some new dance trends were shown at the gala, most people kept it very old school. While some people
might that call generic, we call it traditional. While many missed the Lyran concert, dancing was an
important part of this Gala.

Most people danced for love other danced for their honor in exciting duels.. The Love or the lack there off
can lead to dangerous settings at a Gala like this. While other stuff kept the security running, the number
of duels between young nobles fighting for love were higher than ever. The Dating Game of the High
Society is not only dangerous, but also a heartbreaking one. We have found multiple people with broken
hearts and tearful faces in closets over the years.

The only thing more visited than the garden maze was the Purple Sea. This fine dining restaurant had
multiple candle light dinners in its hidden alcoves. While we at PRISM don’t want to ruin a perfect date,
others did think otherwise. Often these dates were disturbed by the utter chaos of the Gala. We are sorry
for every couple that planned to have a romantic night in the Embassy.

As always meeting a former partner isn’t a great thing to witness, but it happens in these circles. Cold
stares given, cold words uttered, daggers prepared and false smiles applied shows the High Society at
their best.

So what do you think? Will the Houses’ Spouses ever change?

ACRE Fireworks Endorsement
By C. Actus

Among all of the exciting events of the Gala it can be hard to miss the smaller, subtler occasions. This was
not one of them. It had been on the event schedule for weeks: the A.C.R.E. fireworks display. Some had
expressed skepticism about a company whose advertising is usually so drab and dull. How would they
be able to interest the crowds? Could they capture the attention of those who have a taste more refined
than the serfs ACRE entertains in the fields?

Much to everyone’s surprise, it became one of the most talked about spectacles of the entire event. Not
because of the fireworks themselves which, I might add, were rather ordinary and mundane, but because
of the shape the display, which began four hours before the start of the New Year. There was a deafening
boom, then several smaller ignitions. The larger rocket exploded into a message: “We congratulate
House Fornax for being the next Emperox of our glorious
Empire!! - ACRE.” This was accompanied by a brilliant
fiery red shell and a lot of confused murmuring from the
crowd.

Fireworks were still beautiful! Some immediately called scandal, the assembled Nobility
chattered amongst themselves about what it would change
for their House and Family should A.C.R.E endorse House Fornax for the next Emperox. This
announcement, combined with their unveiling of a new capital ship, made several in attendance worried
about the effects on the political spectrum. One Lord of House Triangulum stated: “We will have to show
them that we are not worried in the slightest. Keep up our appearances” although they did go on to add
in an aside to their servant that they would be contacting their lawyers at the soonest opportunity.

It didn’t help the tension of the occasion that loudspeakers then proceeded to prominently repeat the
message, while the organizers frantically tried to shut it down in fear of a diplomatic incident. House
Eridanus representatives were quick to inform the crowd that the endorsement was not part of their
schedule and that they were not making an official statement of support at this time.

When this reporter reached out to A.C.R.E they made it clear that while they would not oppose a Fornax
emperox, they had no part in the endorsement. One director suggested that “It is clear this was someone’s
attempt at a joke . . . this was not our doing.” I was able to find reports of repeated malfunctions and
incidents that had affected the fireworks launchers in the days leading up to the Gala, leading some to
question why they would even go ahead with the display in the first place. Other rumours suggest that
serf staff who had been seen in the area were later dismissed from their positions. I’m going to ask this
question of my readers: What do you think?

Was this a political message they are now backtracking to cover up, or a malfunction of the display?

Flagship Fever: Fornax’s Newest Battleship’s Debut
By T. Cassis

The gala turned out to be extra busy for House Fornax as they introduced their latest and greatest ship,
the Grahm-class battleship Lugh’s Hastam. Named after the weapon of a mythical hero back on Earth,
the Hastam promises to be the newest pride of the Imperial Navy. Befitting its name, the entire ship is
built around its massive forward laser cannon, and sharpens to a spear’s tip with kinetic batteries to
finish the job. It’s ship enough to make a Reticulum crafter salivate over, if this writer is a judge of
anything.

This ship’s appearance wasn’t any normal, everyday announcement. New lines and models of ships are
introduced yearly, usually with little fanfare or attention. Instead, this serves as a message of unity, as
Machinafex Fornax Higginbottom Luna stated in her introduction of the Hastam. “Our glorious empire
has been through a period of strife and many here suffered losses both intangible and material bringing
the Cygnus traitors to their deserved end,” the Machinafex proclaimed, “It is now that we rebuild, that
our empire ascends to new unprecedented heights.” The speech was received with wild jubilation, and
all present seemed awed at the display of sheer industrial power.

While we applaud the efforts of House Fornax, one can’t help but wonder what use a warship of such
magnitude is during a time of rebuilding. Only time will tell.

Hangovers and Resurrections
By Executive Editor Anders Santoni

The Invitation

When your fellow Executive Editor comes into the boardroom with 5 tickets to the “292nd Eridanii New
Year’s Gala” you jump on the chance to go. At least that was my thinking when I leapt up and politely
asked for one. It was Abigail P., Executive Editor of Entertainment, who had gotten them from a PRISM-
loving Noble.

The two jumps over to Imperial Prime took me back to my days as special reporter at the Imperial Palace.
Officially I had left that job a few months earlier, but the need for the job was gone following the
assassination, and died completely when the last swan lay dead on the parade grounds. Fitting really that
my return to the planet took me to the neighbor of the former Cygnus Embassy (Now a parking lot for the
surrounding Embassies including Eridanus).

But the past is done, and this is about the much more recent past. My traveling companions on the trip
included Abigail (of course), Host of Moonbeam and late night at PRISM Singer, Freelancer Morton
Frederick (he was actually on the clock), the rest of the PRISM delegation, myself, and well, Randy. If you
have watched any movies released in the last few years, you have seen the Cowboy Hat wearing, name-
forgetting, horse-loving face belonging to megastar Randy Talladega. Now Randy might be talent but
beyond acting, his talent quickly runs dry. Talladega’s schedule is filled to the brim with little free reign,
yet someone had forgot to book him during the Gala.

This meant that this event was the first time in two years Mr. Talladega was completely free from any line
producer or agent breathing down his neck. The trip over was mostly uneventful though it did confirm
the two things I heard through the grapevine about Randy: he loves his horse and he likes a stiff drink.
He wouldn’t stop drinking nor talking about Molly (the horse). But I was going to the first noble gala in
years and this time I wasn’t working, so I remembered something I heard at a previous gala: “It’s a Gala.
Worries were to be left at the door when you arrived.”

The first night

The night started fine. Doors were opened, and I got to flaunt my new Trilliant Suit on the Red Carpet.
Sadly the bar didn’t open until after the opening speech but that luckily wasn’t too long. So Randy and I
kickstarted the party before the bartender showed up. Well it was mostly Randy that decided to become
bartender until something else became more interesting. Also it distracted him from the very low number
of nobles that knew of the famous actor Randy Talladega. I took some time to catch up with Octavian
Krane of the Trilliant Ring. Krane had given me the suit for this gala and Randy, being the ever jealous
child also made Octavian give him one, though I must give Krane that Talladega is much better known
than me and therefore worth more in advertisement.

And I did get some usefulness out of the accompanying tracking device Krane handed to me. The party
was slowly getting more interesting as the adjoining lounge was filling with nobles playing different
games. Among these Nobles the only I recognized was Uncle Monty.

A PRISM Production/Made on Echo/Produced by PNN 19

Monty, full name Hourset Lyra Sethis Montgomery, was engaged in a game House of Illix, a game I never
quite grasped as it always feels like the rules change each time I watch it. (Though I won’t make the easy
comparison to noble court life.) This was sadly also the last time I got to see Monty before he got
kidnapped. It is always strange meeting someone you have read about and only know that way, and
meeting A/SGM Jack “The Wall” Hewlett from Deathless was no different. Apparently the Deathless
rarely get PRISM Content while on mission and Sergeant Hewlett was part of the security detail for the
gala not that would stop him from having fun while away from the battlefield. Unluckily for me who was
on Randy duty, “The Wall’s” idea of fun involved a flask of DVodka mixed with combat stims.

Randy Talladega, never saying no to new things, took a large gulp of the cocktail of DVodka and combat
stims, and it is here my gala-experience started its downward spiral. As the liquor hit Talladega like a
flechette from a Reticulum mag pistol, nothing could prepare me for how actually drunk, megastar Randy
Talladega would act. Randy was all over the place, prompting Octavian Krane to make a joke that if Randy
died, Trilliant could make me a clone.

Which was starting to look like a good idea in my stupor and general distaste of Mr. Talladega’s antics. I
stayed at the bar for far too long considering I was supposed to look after Mr. Cowboy Hat, but it wasn’t
like he go do stupid things, like run off looking for Abigail.

“But it wasn’t like he go do stupid things, like run off looking for Abigail.”

I don’t know what stupid things Talladega did when he went to find Abigail, but I was actually enjoying
myself while he got detained by security. Thinking that Randy had had his fun for the first night, I took
Randy back to the Hotel rooms provided by our generous hosts and tugged him in, after what I think was
his 3rd detox that evening. Then I went for some much needed sleep, knowing that the gala still had days
to go with more worrying about Mr. Talladega. Mr. Talladega though was not one to stop partying, and
feeling the pull of liquor, went off to rejoin the party.

Investigating the near death of Talladega

I caught up with Talladega in the hospital, finding him quickly with the Trilliant tracking device linked to
Randy’s suit. Randy was still under care and I couldn’t get the story straight from the horse-owners
mouth, but I managed to piece together the following by asking around: Randy had returned to the Eridanii
Embassy to keep drinking and partying only to at some point later fall or be thrown off the building, got
resurrected by a biopsionic, and finally transferred to the hospital.

On my way back to the Embassy I got a message from PRISM Legal, who “politely” ordered me to gather
some information of what happened to Randy so they can do a threat assessment on the remaining talent,
emphasis on talent, as PRISM Legal doesn’t care about Executives like Abigail and myself. Might have
something to do with the stick up their asses, we have to remove every few weeks. Starting the search
off by assessing the place where Randy most likely stood upright last before having a close encounter
with the tiles below, i.e. at the Starlit bar on the rooftop.

A PRISM Production/Made on Echo/Produced by PNN 20

Here I ran into Abigail and some Deathless, among them was “The Wall” who at least pushed me into
this awful situation yesterday. The wall didn’t enjoy me placing blame on him (and the DVodka cocktail)
when Randy had many detoxes before his literal fall from grace. So the talk turned into an heated
argument with the Wall and “Wisp” over who was responsible and how security are more worried about
the kidnapped noble than an actual (failed) murder.

They did say that one of the Reticulum security guys might have drone footage of the jump. They
promised to help me look closer at the footage, but seeing as I wasn’t paying the Deathless for being here,
their word carried little weight. They were soon held back by some drama about “the Wall” kissing a
Noble from House Velan causing the Velan to go through a psychic awakening. And their Noble boyfriend
(or something) got mad over it. Things didn’t end with a duel sadly but without any resolution. Which is
lucky for “the Wall” as the Noble had full rights to kill him even without going through a duel.

Not to be deterred by one incident with nobles, the Deathless started to give DVodka with combat stims
to a poor young Reticulum Noble girl, that I would estimate being around 17. This continued until the new
Imperial Flagship was shown from the roof garden. A huge ship with an even bigger gun, this thing looks
like it was made in the golden days to fight off Aliens for Humanity. Some Fornax designer has been
touching themselves for years to this design.

The videofeed from the ship just confirmed the noble self-appreciation was at 110 percent. I sadly lost
my new and old Deathless friend during the commotion and had no luck in finding the Reticulum drone
operator from the security team. Something about being preoccupied by the kidnapping situation and
getting his drone back up to speed. This did allow me time to me to return to Randy to see what the
alcoholic actor could remember.

“Randy was rather positive about the experience”

Randy was rather positive about the experience and thought he was now a Martyr which didn’t help his
Ego. He also kept talking about “The Wallace” as one of the people that were around when he fell along
with a Crux guy named Markgrass Crux Wake Pellican Ant. Though “The Wallace” was likely The Wall,
this Markgrass was unknown to me. The Wall even helped Randy after according to his own testimony,
so I was sure that the Wall wasn’t the pushee or that his contract was over once Randy “died”.

Vaults and Vagrants

While I was out the embassy went into lockdown. Something to do with the kidnapping of Monty, the
older Lyran noble I had watched playing House of Illix before this whole thing went to shit. And it yet
again kept me from going over the tapes with my new information. When the lockdown finally lifted I was
feeling much better and needed a really good meal, like “only for Noble”-good, so my first stop was the
Purple seas, the in-embassy kitchen/restaurant. I was planning to work a bit on this very article but was
interrupted when I noticed a Crux and the Eridanii host frantically typing away on the same datapad.

A PRISM Production/Made on Echo/Produced by PNN 21

Listening in, I gathered that the Crux was Oberster Inquisitor Crux Linhard Amadeus, the head of security,
and they were negotiating the release of the kidnapped Horurset Lyra Sethis Montgomery, aka Uncle
Monty.

Apparently it was a success, just like my meal lived up to its hype as well, and Old Man Monty would soon
be free agian. Yet my search would have to wait until the security team wasn’t preoccupied so I had plenty
of time to enjoy my meal and some casual conversation with Abigail. Which was cut short when the
pirates went for the vault.

My old reporter instincts got the best of me as I pulled Abigail with me towards the sound of flechettes
impacting marble. A Flashbang, some hand to hand combat, a few monoblades and Electric nets, and
plenty of guns later, a Crux with a stick up his butt dragged me away from the scene. Just like 3198. And
this time the Crux still haven’t learn the laws on press freedom. Law people just don’t like it when you
quote the rules at them when they are wrong.

Luckily I made a friend of a Deathless named “WISP” who let me and Abigail get some great footage of
the crime scene while all the bears were out looking for the stolen honey pot. Meanwhile, the last Vagrant
escaped on the roof and I decided to drown out old demons and unwind in the most PRISM way, with
alcohol. Shortly after I am joined by another shaken party-goer from house Serpens along with Abigail.
After a bit of small talk, I go to upload the footage for transfer to the local branch of PRISM so they can
edit a newsreel together.

The Hangover

The last day went by fairly quiet, besides the minor provocations such as a fake fireworks show from
“A.C.R.E.” congratulating the election of a Fornax Emperox. Which was silly in every way. A.C.R.E. doesn’t
really use fireworks to celebrate anything as it is a waste of money, which is beside the point of the
election not even having been started yet.

I decided that the last thing I wanted to do was to mess with the group of angsty Nobles and hotheaded
Deathless that are the security detachment. Besides Legal had by this point accepted that Randy was
likely a target of a Vagrant hit. I didn’t want to say anything to contest this as my patience was gone since
I collected Mr. Talladega from the security on the first night.

Compounding this, was the response from the security when a protest happened on the parking lot that
covers the foundation of the old Cygnus Embassy. Let’s just say the protesters found a good reason to
leave, quickly. If it was Sergeant Hewlett aka “the Wall”, that pushed Randy Talladega, then justice was
now close to untouchable. He was, last I heard, engaged to the young Reticulum gal he was drinking with
the other day. As I am writing this I am sitting in Purple Seas enjoying the last noble cuisine not paid for
out of my pocket. PRISM Legal knew from the start that any Noble assailant would be legally untouchable,
even more so if it wa a Crux. Here at the end I want to remind you, my dear reader, what I heard at my
first gala: “It’s a Gala. Worries were to be left at the door when you arrived”

“And I am leaving my worries from this gala at the door when I leave.”
