C. REVIEW
Now, before we’ll proceed to our lesson proper, let
us review first our past lesson. Last meetings
discussion was all about the “basic principles of
good nutrition”. This includes the 3 classification of
nutrients: the Go, Grow, and Glow foods.

D. MOTIVATION

Today, we are going to have a game! This game is


called “QUESTION RELAY”
Yes maam!
Familiar about a game, Message relay?

 Under your armchairs is where a colour


paper is hiding.
 The color you get indicates your group team
 Find your mates with your same paper color
,form a line (Hand’s forward) & finalize your
line position

Mechanics of the game:


1. I am holding a flash card which contains
Questions for the Game.
2. The last person in the line will going to get a
CARD and will going to read silently the question in
it. (Learners were listening to the instructions)
3. After reading, he will going to pass the question
to the person in front of his/her line (basically the
4th person), and vice versa till the question will
reach the 1st person.
4. Once the question will reach the 1st person in the
line, he will going to choose an answer on the Yes ma’am!
CLUES provided by the teacher. (learners having the activity)
5. After Choosing an answer, the 1st person will
going to write the answer on the paper provided.
6. After his/her job in answering, he will going to
get a new set of question and turn at the back to
whisper the question next to her/him & vice versa. (learners excitedly wanted to know the right
answers)
Once every member of a group has already
participated/answered in the paper, the game is
OVER.

F. UNLOCKING OF THE DIFFICULT TERMS

During our discussion, we might encounter some


difficult words. Let us first define what are these
words:

Meal management – is a series of events concerned


with menu planning, food purchasing, preparation
and serving meal.

Menu- a menu is a presentation of food and


beverage offerings

Main Dish - The main course is the featured or


primary dish in a meal consisting of several
courses.
Beverage - a drink, especially one other than water.
Dessert - the sweet course eaten at the end of a
meal.
Appetizer - a small dish of food or a drink taken
before a meal or the main course of a meal to
stimulate one's appetite.

G. LESSON PROPER
ACTIVITY

For our lesson proper activity, you are going to


create a “menu plan”.

Do you know how to create a menu plan? No ma’am.

I have here group of words in no particular order. (learners listening for instructions of the

activity. This serves as a clue for you to start with.
But, be careful because some words written in this
paper is/are not included.

I have here an envelope that provides all the


materials for the activity. All you need to do is just
to make a menu plan (that would depend on your
stock knowledge during grade school days.)

Also, inside the envelope is a piece of paper for


more directions in making a menu plan.
After making, post your work in front and choose a
representative to present your work and answer the
question: “What’s the importance of creating a
menu plan?

I’ll be giving you 4 minutes for this activity.

considered:

1. Nutritional adequacy
2. The food budget
3. Differences in food habits
4. The time and skill of the food manager
5. Suitability, availability, and quality of the
food to be served.
6. Aesthetic and psychological aspects of food
7. Equipment available for food preparation.
Preparing Meals
“Menu Pattern”

A simple, one-day menu pattern for an average


family is as follows:

The meal pattern is an outline of the menu item


categories.

The sample menu is the extent of selection of dishes


within each category of the meal pattern.

Preparing a simple Family breakfast

“Types of breakfast”

*the type of breakfast that one eats will depend


upon his activities, the hour of the day at which
breakfast is served, and the number of meals of
which he has daily.

1. A very light breakfast usually consists of a


fruit, a beverage, and bread
2. A light breakfast usually includes fruit,
beverage, bread, and a native delicacy

3. A heavy breakfast has a protein dish added


to the light breakfast

4. A very heavy breakfast may have one or


more protein dish added to the heavy
breakfast (provide examples)

Therefore, what people eat and the conditions
under which the meals are served should always be
considered to realize the goal of meal management.
To be exact, the goal of meal management is to
provide food that will ensure the physical and
mental growth of a person, his social development
and well-being, with a reasonable expenditure of
available resources.

Now, I want you to prepare a ½ crosswise of a


yellow paper or any scratch paper and make a (learners started to make their familiesmenu
