C 4.2.3 Produce a plan or draft of two paragraphs or more and modify this appropriately in

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. Narrate factual and imagined events and experiences by planning in writing a
story about a trip to the mountains.
2. Produce a plan of 2 paragraphs or more and modify this appropriately in
response to feedback.
CROSS CURRICULAR Language
ELEMENTS :
ACTIVITIES: : The picture of mountains and the word “ MOUNTAINS” is written on the board.
PRE-LESSON The pupils look at the picture and tell why mountains can be dangerous.
(5mins) The pupils then talk about it.
Example: you can lose your way, you might fall, the weather can change very quickly etc.

LESSON DEVELOPMENT : ACTIVITY 1: Class : (15 mins)


1. Teacher gives task ( Exercise 1)- pupils read the information in the Writing focus
box first. Pupils fill the spaces in Exercise 1.
** differentiation strategies ** Teacher highlights sequencing words and expressions in the Writing Focus for
lower ability pupils and check their understanding.
2. Pupils translate the sequencing words in Exercise 2. **For weaker pupils, the
Task teacher will help them translate the words and expressions into their language.
Feedback 3. The pupils compare answers in pairs.
Outcome 4. The pupils listen to the CD and check their answers.
5. Peer check of answers before teacher does overall discussion.
6. In pairs, pupils check their understanding of the writing focus by answering ex. 3
and 4. Peer checking before classroom discussion.

ACTIVITY 2 : Group of 4/Individually (35 minutes)


7. Teacher gives task : Writing Task
In groups of 4, pupils plan the idea of their story and make notes in a graphic
map:
Who it is about -you and somebody else
How will the story begin and end.
Name of mountain
Climax of the story
8. Pupils write individually in at least 2 paragraphs. -an introduction, the main part
of the story and the end.
Or each pupil writes one paragraph based on the graphic map planned.
9. For lower ability pupils **A template of existing story from the Internet is prepared
** differentiation strategies for lower ability pupils where a choice of words and phrases is given for them to
pick and choose to complete the template *. Stronger pupils to do the writing task
on their own.
10. Teacher facilitates and gives comments/feedback
POST LESSON : Individual: (5 minutes)
Students to upload their narrative writing on the VLE frog.
