i used the apadvisor, which helped out alot, but i was wondering what should be your
Gender: percentage of the aquarium filtration capacity?
Posts: 32 would you want it over 100%, mine showed up at 149%.

Look at how many gallons per hour your filter is pumping. Divide that by how many

Gender: Fresh water tanks that are properly stocked should be filtered at 5-8 times per hour.
United States Salt water tanks should go closer to 11 times per hour.
Tanks: 450 pacu
community, 70 Example, my 70 gallon salt tank has 2 emperor 400's on it and has a protein skimmer.
tropical community, Ignoring my protein skimmer my tank is filtered at (400+400)/70= 11.4 times per
125 tropical
community 70 hour.
coldwater
community, 30
On a 210 gallon fresh water tank I have a rena filstar x4 rated at 450 gph and a pair of
shell dwelling
cichlids emperor 400's which gives me (400+400+450)/210 or 5.95 times per hour. That tank
Posts: 10,168 is heavily stocked and may be under filtered. But you get the idea.

you mean It should filter the tank size 5-8 times a hour?

yes that is what she meant, not 5-8 gallons per hour but, turn over the tank 5-8 times
per hour

Yeah I checked mine last night after the post and I was happy to see that mine filters

Ok so my 115 liter tank has two filters ( a hand me down HOB whose make I can't
Gender: remember and a small Resun Puro internal) on it which turn the tank over 12 times an
Tanks: 1 15gl hour and the 58 liter has a penn plaxx cascade 400 running in it turning over the tank a
tropical, 1 30gl
Subtropical and one crazy 34.6 times an hour.
5gl betta tank

keeshfish, the Penn Plax cascade 400 pumps at 110 gallons per hour. In order for that
Offline to turn your tank over at 34.6 times an hour.... you have a 0.33 gallon tank. And I
think the filter holds more water than that! Double check your math!

you are right karen its the confusion of the imperial versus the metric system oops. Its
Gender: turning over the 15 gallon or 56l tank at 7.3 times an hour. Which is still adequate
Tanks: 1 15gl thankfully.
