Writing and Rhetoric


Course Calendar

Fall 2018
Instructor: Paul M. Worley
E-mail: pmworley@wcu.edu A note about e-mail: Monday-Friday I strive to answer e-
mails within 24 hours. Allow for up to 48 hours on the weekends or during
college breaks.
Office/Office Hours: Coulter 304 – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00-
12:00 and by appointment. Email me to schedule an appointment.

Tentative Course Schedule


Note that the schedule listed here may change throughout the semester. It is your responsibility to
check your WCU e-mail to note changes. I will not remind you what you are to have done for the
next class. You should come to class having read the material listed for the class meeting.
Sometimes we change assignments in class. Therefore, it is your responsibility to check with a
classmate if you miss class to make sure you are prepared for the next class meeting.

M 9/3- Labor Day, no class
W 9/5- Introductions and Thesis Statements. Bring Ink to class today.

Week Four
M 9/10- RA Chapter 2 pg. 7-10
W 9/10- Writing Workshop
F 9/12- Class discussion on Essay #2

W 11/7 Annotation and Citation- You must have two scholarly sources with you in
class today.

M 11/12- Annotations- Bring all of your sources with you to class today.

Bibliography to class today.

Week Fifteen
M 11/26- Bring your thesis statement to class for Essay #4. Annotated Bibliography
Due in BB by class time.
W 11/28- Persuasive techniques. Keep outlining, drafting, organizing.
F 11/30- Individual conferences. No class meeting. Bring a draft of paper no less than 3
pages to our meeting.

Week Sixteen
M 12/3- Individual conferences. No class meeting. Bring a draft of paper no less than 3
pages to our meeting.
W 12/5- Individual conferences. No class meeting. Bring a draft of paper no less than 3
pages to our meeting.
F 12/7- Peer Review of Essay #4. Bring a COMPLETE DRAFT (revised AFTER you’ve
had your individual conference) to class.

Exam Period: Essay 3 due in Blackboard by our exam time.
