Create a New Model
In this exercise, you will learn how to setup model configuration and create a new STAAD.Pro model.
1. Launch STAAD.Pro.
2. In the License Configuration window, select the US Design Codes (Standard) checkbox.
3. In the Project Tasks window, click on the Configuration... link.
4. In the Configure Program dialog, select the Base Unit tab and then select the following parameter:
Select Base Unit: English
5. In the Configure Program dialog, select the Global Axis Orientation tab and then select the following parameter:
Select Axis Orientation: Y up
8. In the Location field, use the Browse button and navigate to a convenient location to save this model.
9. In the New dialog, click on the Next > button.
10. In the Where do you want to go? dialog, select the Open Structure Wizard checkbox and then click Finish.
11. Keep this model open for the next exercise.
Use the Structure Wizard
In this exercise, you will learn how to create model geometry using the following utility:
Structure Wizard
The Structure Wizard is used to parametrically generate a structural model which can then be merged with the current structure in
STAAD.Pro.

Use the Generate toolbar
In this exercise, you will learn how to modify model geometry using the Generate toolbar.
Generate - Mirror - Mirrors structural geometry about any plane parallel to one of the global axis directions.
Generate - Rotate - Rotates structural geometry about the specific axis through a specified distance.

Use the Geometry toolbar
In this exercise, you will learn how to create model geometry using the Geometry toolbar.
Add Beam between Mid-Points - Used to add members between the midpoints of two existing beams.
Add Beam by Perpendicular Intersection - Used to add members between an existing node and the perpendicular bisection of an existing
beam.

Intersect Selected Members
In this exercise, you will learn how to modify model geometry using the following command:
Intersect Selected Members command
The Intersect Selected Members command is used to break crossing members at the intersection point which will allow forces to transfer
between the crossing members.
