C) Qualifications and Experience for Teaching Staff for UG Teachers:
(Ref:Central council of Indian Medicine Notification Dated 07/11/2016 U. G. Regulation No. 24-
14/2016 & Academic Council Resoulation No.129/2016 dated 19/12/2016)

(a) Essential qualification-

(i) A Bachelor degree in Ayurveda from a University or its equivalent as recognised under Indian
Medicine Central Council Act, 1970; and

(ii) A Post-graduate qualification in the subject or specialty concerned included in the schedule to the
Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970.

(b) Experience -

(i) For the Post of Professor: Ten years teaching experience in concerned subject or five years
teaching experience as Associate Professor (Reader) in concerned subject or ten years research
experience in regular service in Research Councils of Central Government or State Government
or Union territory or University or National Institutions with minimum five papers published in a
recognised journal.

(ii) For the Post of Reader or Associate Professor: Five years teaching experience in concerned
subject or five years research experience in regular service in Research Councils of Central
Government or State Government or Union territory or University or National Institutions with
minimum three papers published in a recognised journal.

(iii) For the Post of Assistant Professor or Lecturer: The age shall not exceed forty-five years at
the time of first appointment and it may be relaxed for in-service candidates as per the existing
rules.

Note: Priority shall be given to the candidates having Doctoral in Ayurveda.

D) Qualifications and Experience for Teaching Staff for PG Teachers:

(Ref:Central council of Indian Medicine Notification Dated 07/11/2016 P. G. Regulation No.
4- 90/2016 & Academic Council Resoulation No.129/2016 dated 19/12/2016)

(a) Essential qualification-

(i) A Bachelor degree in Ayurveda from a University as recognised under the Act;

(ii) a Post-graduate degree in the subject or specialty concerned included in the Schedules to the
Act.

(b) Experience -

(i) For the post of Professor : Total teaching experience of ten years in concerned subject or five
years teaching experience as Associate Professor (Reader) in concerned subject or total ten years
research experience in regular service in Research Councils of Central Government or State
Government or Union territory or University or National Institutions with not less than five papers
published in a recognised journal.

(ii) For the post of Reader or Associate Professor : Teaching experience of five years in
concerned subject or total five years research experience in regular service in Research Councils of
Central Government or State Government or Union territory or University or National Institutions with
not less than three papers published in a recognised journal.
 (iii) For the post of Assistant Professor or Lecturer : at the time of first appointment, the age shall
not exceed forty-five years and no teaching or research experience is required.

E) Qualification and experience for the Post of Head of Institution :

The qualification and experience for the post of Head of the Institution (Principal or Dean or Director)
shall be the same qualification and experience prescribed for the post of Professor.

F) Provision of Allied Subject : In absence of the candidate of Post-graduate qualification in the

subject concerned as mentioned in column (2) of the table, the candidate of Post-graduate
qualification in the allied subjects as mentioned in column (3) of the table, shall be considered eligible
for the post of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, Reader or Associate Professor and Professor :-

Notes:
(1) The provision of allied subjects may be allowed for five years from the date of publication of these
regulations. (The Gazette of India dated 07/11/2016).
(2) The research experience of regular Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) holder may be considered
equivalent to one year teaching experience.
(3) For the post of Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Sanskrit: M.A. in Sanskrit or Acharya form a
recognized Institutions or equivalent with due experience. Preference should be given to those
possessing Ayurveda qualification also.
(4) The teacher(s) who had been considered eligible in the past on the basis of previous regulations shall
not be considered ineligible on the basis of amendment.
(5) The minimum additional teaching staff required for starting post-graduate course shall be one
Professor or Reader and one Lecturer of concerned subject, in addition to the teachers stipulated for
under-graduate teaching, and the specialty which does not exist as independent department at
under-graduate level shall have minimum one professor or reader and one lecturer for starting post
graduate course.
(6) The post-graduate department or specialty shall have minimum one professor in concerned subject
or specialty from academic year 2017-18.

G) GENERAL NOTES :
1) Horizontal Reservation for Ladies as per Govt. rules and Persons with Disabilities Reservation
as per GR. Dtd. 27/04/2011, 04/08/2011, 05/06/2013, 28/07/2014 & Medical Education and
Drugs Department, Mumbai letter Dtd. 30/06/2015.
2) Candidates applying for reserve category post(s) should submit caste certificate & caste validity
certificate and also recent non-creamy layer certificate, wherever applicable.
3) The benefits of reservation shall be admissible to the backward class / category candidates who
are domiciled in the state of Maharashtra only.
4) Age Limit & Educational Qualifications shall be considered up-to last date of the application &
experience shall be considered up-to earlier day of the interview.
 5) The decision taken by MUHS authorities regarding essential qualifications and experience shall
be applicable, from time to time.
6) Qualified teachers above the age of 64 years will be considered for one - one year, as per
respective council’s norms for the Private Government Aided College.
7) Pay Scale is as per rules.
8) Application along-with attested copies of all relevant Certificates must reach to the college on or
before : 24/08/ 2018 ( Exact date is to be specified)
