Problem 4
Ailene borrowed Php100,000 from a bank, payable within 25 years at 10% compounded annually. She plans to make the
rst payment of a certain amount ve years after obtaining the loan and, for next years' payments until the end of 25th
year, to increase constantly by an amount equal to the rst payment. This payment scheme is such that she will have
just settled her loan at the end of 25th year. She is able to pay the loan as planned, except for the last two years. In this
case, how much is her loan to settle at the end of the 25th year? Express answer to the nearest centavo and in units of
pesos.

Problem 5
The value of f 0 (1), obtained using forward dierence and central dierence formulas for rst derivatives, both with step
size h = 0.01, are 0.6281446372 and 0.6250195317, respectively. Given that f is continuous and twice dierentiable,
and assuming the above information to be sucient, nd f 00 (1) using central dierence formula for second derivatives.
Express answer to 6 decimal places.

Problem 12 [Dual Challenge]

Tank A initially contains 30 L of wastewater with dissolved solid (DS) concentration of 100 g/L, while tank B initially
contains 30 L of wastewater with DS concentration of 10 g/L. They are then connected together by pipes C and D such
that pipe C delivers uid from tank A to tank B at a rate of 2 L/s, while at the same time pipe D delivers uid from
tank B to tank A at a rate of 2 L/s. Assuming complete mixing in both tanks, determine the DS concentration of tanks
A and B after 15 seconds. Express answers to 2 decimal places and in units of g/L.
