Wire remaining in the well is what is important, and this can be determined by the reading on the
counter when the broken end returns to the surface.

To calculate the minimum diameter blind box to ensure

Wire Dia (Wd)
cutting of the wire the following information is re-
quired: Min Blind Box dia
To cut wire.

Line Diameter : d (BBd)

Tubing ID : Td
Rope socket diameter* : D

* Check body versus fishing neck diameter.

Toolstring*
The following formula determines blind box dia (BBd) dia (D)

BBd = Td - D/2 + d/2

Tubing ID
The worst possible case should be assumed with the (Td)

toolstring laying against one wall of the tubing.

Warning.

Blind box diameter must be large enough to prevent

the cutter bar from passing down the side of the
toolstring.

Note : On some original 1 1/2" rope sockets the body is

1 3/8" which is smaller than the toolstring OD. Min Blind Box

(BBd)

Weak rope socket knot option : To enable straight pull

release if necessary.

On knot type - only 1 1/2" wraps in the knot.

* On no knot type - twisted loops (ref image) in place of the thimble

allows release with a straight pull.
