INCREASED TRAFFIC DEMANDS A BETTER WIRELESS

NETWORK
Thanks to the increased usage of mobile devices, Wi-Fi has emerged as the primary access network for
most organizations. Powerful smartphones provide easy access and purchasing power. And relevant
information about products and services can be delivered seamlessly to tablets at the point of purchase.
By 2021, traffic from wireless and mobile gear will account for nearly 63 percent of total IP traffic. 1
Whether your business is large or small, it needs an effective wireless strategy to handle this expansion of
wireless traffic. Does your current network have the capability to take advantage of automation, dynamic
applications, location-based analytics, and dynamic video consumption?

Deploying a successful wireless network with enterprise-level functionality poses some unique challenges.
Network users are increasingly tech-savvy and expect to access content anytime and anywhere. Network
functions are often manual and managing user access is becoming more complex and prone to human
error. As hackers use more sophisticated methods, your wireless network and users could be more
vulnerable to attack. And to protect its investment, your organization needs information on user
preferences to build stronger relationships with wireless users. In this environment, an effective wireless
network should offer:
 Excellent user experiences: Speed and performance are an important competitive advantage. Users
prefer networks that provide reliable access and the latest wireless technology, including 802.11ac
Wave 2, the fastest Wi-Fi available.
 Rich features: Your network should grow with your organization. Wireless networks should also be
accented by the best industry practices and provide detailed insights about user habits.
 Simplified management: IT resources may be limited. Setting up and maintaining a wireless network
should be simple and intuitive so that IT can focus on other initiatives.
 Increased security: Limited visibility into the network makes it difficult to resolve issues quickly and
reduce security threats. Proactive network monitoring can isolate problems faster.
 Actionable intelligence: A lack of IT and business insights from the network can slow down innovation.
Detailed network analytics can make business decisions easier.

The Proposed Cisco Wireless and Mobility Advantage

Cisco, the developer, has been recognized as an innovator in wireless technology. Gartner named Cisco as
a leader in its 2017 Magic Quadrant for the Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure Report. 2 Cisco
has been a contributor to the wide range of IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards. Cisco also collaborates with the
Wi-Fi Alliance to define the industry’s product interoperability and certification process for WLAN
standards, including 802.11ac Wave 1 and Wave 2. With Cisco RF equipment and intelligent software,
offered by <<PartnerName>>, your wireless network will be as fast as your wired network. And with the
help of Cisco Mobility Experience Services, also offered by <<PartnerName>>, you can identify the
business outcomes you want and define metrics to measure your success.

<<PartnerName>>’s proposed solutions include the following components as described below: Cisco
WLAN Controllers, Cisco Access Points, Cisco Mobility Express, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco DNA Analytics and
Assurance, and Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences.

Cisco WLAN Controllers

Cisco WLAN Controllers help to simplify network deployments while reducing the total cost of operations
and ownership. These controllers provide network security and optimization for IPv6-enabled mobile
clients. Cisco WLAN Controllers offer the ability to identify, analyze, and optimize application traffic based
on Next Generation Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR2) libraries for thousands of
applications. These controllers also provide next-generation hotspot functionality—from branch offices,
small enterprises, main campuses, and service providers. They support system-wide functions to deliver:
 Flexibility to configure wireless policy, management, or security settings at any time through
centralized provisioning and management.
 Faster response to business needs by centrally managing wireless networks.

2 Gartner Magic Quadrant for the Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure.

<clientLogo> <PartnerLogo>

 Standardized AP configuration for software versioning.

 Wireless intrusion prevention system (wIPS) capabilities.
 Network-wide QoS for voice and video across wired and wireless networks.
 Network-wide centralized security policies across wired and wireless networks.
 Industry-leading mobility, security, and management for IPv6 and dual-stack clients, equipping
administrators for IPv6 troubleshooting, planning, and client traceability from a common wired and
wireless management system.

Cisco Access Points

Cisco APs give users exceptional wireless performance with automatic intelligent routing. While Cisco APs
support the fastest Wi-Fi standard available—802.11ac Wave 2, they are also capable of handling
increased demand. Networks often face times of unexpected spikes in user traffic. Cisco Flexible Radio
Assignment (FRA) automatically detects when a large number of devices are connected to the network,
and changes dual radios to serve more clients. RF efficiency is improved using multi-user, multiple-input,
multiple output (MU-MIMO). MU-MIMO allows an AP to transmit to multiple clients at the same time,
instead of sending data to a single client at a time. In addition, Cisco APs help your organization:
 Prepare for an increasingly wireless future as IoT, video, and mobile applications take to the airwaves.
 Improve customer experiences with highly accurate contextual data.
 Deliver better customer service and employee experiences with faster wireless connections.
 Detect applications, monitor their performance, and troubleshoot issues.
 Protect your investment by accommodating growth while continuing to work with existing equipment.

Cisco Application Visibility and Cisco AVC provides application-level classification, monitoring, and traffic
Control (AVC) control to improve the performance of business-critical applications. The Cisco
AVC solution helps to identify and classify over 1000 on-premises and cloud
applications, monitor application response time, latency, jitter, and other
performance metrics, export application performance metrics with Cisco IOS
NetFlow v9 or IP Information export (IPFIX), and set different priorities and
dynamically choose network paths based on application and business needs.

Cisco TrustSec Cisco TrustSec security simplifies the provisioning and management of secure
access to network services applications. Unlike access control mechanisms
that are based on network topology, Cisco TrustSec policies use logical
groupings, so access is consistently maintained even as resources are moved
in mobile and virtualized networks. Decoupling access entitlements from IP
addresses and VLANs simplifies security policy maintenance tasks, lowers
operational costs, and allows common access policies to be consistently
applied to wired, wireless, and VPN access.
