Business Case for SimSci Suite – Crude Feedstock Management

Problem Statement
In RAPID project, Spiral Crude Manager is being used as crude assay management
system for their crude assessment operations and crude assay input to LP systems. As per
the RAPID project requirement, our consultants should be well versed in the Spiral
CrudeSuite Manager with comprehensive understanding of features and workflows
including enterprise crude knowledge management. This course will not only help in crude
assessment and integration with LP systems but also with updating of assays from
laboratory data, fractionation modelling & tuning, assay data blending and Re-cutting.

Request Description
Approval for scheduling the Spiral Suite – Crude Feedstock Management training course in
April or May, 2017.

Details:

 No. of Training days: 02

 No. of People attending: 07 (mostly from Bangalore)
 No. of Consultants arriving: 01
 Location: BDC6 or BDC7
 Fee: Training Cost (8800 Euros) + Actual trip cost + 10%

Note: Training cost should be released initially to schedule the training course and
remaining amount would be communicated later after the completion of the course.

Solution description
Course learning is hands-on training with real industry examples. Users are guided through
examples demonstrating the features of the tools, and also provided with realistic problems
to solve.

Couse outline:

 Crude assays and quality assessment: entering new crude data, predicting full quality
information and monitoring quality variation
 Refinery modelling: using test-run data to accurately build test run models for your
refinery
 Handling crude oil fractions: working with straight-run products in Spiral Assay and
predicting full assays for products
 Crude blending: creating blends from crude oils and fractions and targeting blending
recipes to meet product specifications
 Modelling fractionation: using test run data to build comprehensive fractionation
models and comparing legacy fractionation approaches with the commercial
fractionation approach employed by Spiral
 Working up detailed assays: entering assay data into Spiral Assay and using this, and
if necessary imperfect fractionation, to build complete crude assays
 User properties: adding new properties and correlations to Spiral Assay in order to
extend functionality and incorporate customised workflows
 Advanced reporting: creating custom reports for use with in-house software and
business processes
 Commercial cuts and LP input: creating input for LP optimisers including results from
commercial fractionation and swing cuts.
