Magento Frontend Structure

1. Download, unzip and install Magento - ​*​server​ ​or localhost​:

From:​ ​https://magento.com/tech-resources/download

❏ www
❏ *Put unzipped folders here

2. Open browser, go to server address and follow instructions:

Better to have in hand:

a. Username
b. Valid e-mail
c. Password

Set database name and password (for mysql):

*meaningful name *unforgettable password

3. When you see this page, set developer mode:

Go to ~path/magento_root_directory:

$ php bin/magento deploy:mode:set developer

4. Add new ​Theme Folder​ to ~path/magento_root_directory:

❏ Theme

5. Install new ​Theme​ from admin page http://youraddress/admin:

Content > ​Design​ > Configuration > ​Edit ​> Select Applied Theme > ​Save Configuration

To see ​applied Theme​, go to ~path/Magento_root_directory:

$ php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f


$ rm -rf var/view_preprocessed/* var/cache/* var/page_cache/* pub/static/frontend/*
$ php bin/magento cache:flush

6. Import database:

$ mysql ​-u user -p


> use ‘databasename’;
> drop database ‘olddatabase’’;
> create database ‘newdatabase’;
> exit

$ msql ​-u user -p​ newdatabase < newdatabase.sql

7. Update base_url for new server:

$ mysql ​-u user -p


> USE newimporteddatabase;
> UPDATE core_config_data SET value = ‘​http://serveraddress/​’ WHERE path LIKE
‘web/unsecure/base_url’;
> UPDATE core_config_data SET value = ‘​https://serveraddress/​’ WHERE path LIKE
‘web/secure/base_url’;
> exit

8. Load database ~path/magento_root_directory:

$ composer install
$ php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
$ php bin/magento setup:di:compile
$ php bin/magento maintenance:enable
$ php bin/magento setup:upgrade --keep-generated
$ php bin/magento maintenance:disable
$ php bin/magento indexer:reindex
$ php bin/magento setup:di:compile
$ php bin/magento cache:flush

11. Updates: localhost → server

Once the desired changes are visible on localhost > Upload file(s) to server and go to
~path/​Magento_root_directory​:

$ rm -rf var/view_preprocessed/* var/cache/* var/page_cache/* pub/static/frontend/*


$ php bin/magento cache:flush

12. SMTP Configuration - Mageplaza Extension ​~path/Magento_root_directory:

$composer require mageplaza/module-smtp


$php bin/magento setup:upgrade
$php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy
$php bin /magento setup:di:compile

13.​ ​Customize Email Templates > admin page ​http://youraddress/admin​:

Marketing > ​Communications​ > Email Templates > ​Add New Template ​> Select
Template
> ​Load Template

14. Fill out the Template Information > ​Save Template

15. Activate the new email templates for your Theme and upload Logo Image

Content >​ ​Design​ ​> Configuration > ​Edit​ ​> Transactional Emails

16. Insert your custom store emails

Stores > ​Settings​ > Configuration > General > Store Email Addresses >​ ​Save Config

17. Configure the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol

Mageplaza​ > ​SMTP ​> Configuration > ​Save Config

Enable production mode:

On Magento root directory, run:

$ sudo rm -rf var/cache/* generated/metadata/* generated/code/* var/view_preprocessed/*


pub/static/frontend/* pub/static/adminhtml/*
$ sudo bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy --no-less --no-css -f
$ sudo bin/magento deploy:mode:set production --skip-compilation
$ sudo php bin/magento cache:flush
$ sudo php bin/magento cache:clean
$ sudo composer install
$ sudo php bin/magento setup:di:compile
$ sudo bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
$ sudo bin/magento deploy:mode:show

Expected result:

Current application mode: production. (Note: Environment variables may override this value.)
$ sudo php bin/magento cache:status
