October 21, 2018 ACS National in Boston, it has been a very productive
and exciting time in the Division of Small Chemical
Midwest Regional Businesses (SCHB) since the New Orleans meeting.

Gerry Meyer wins the 2018


American Institute of Chemists Gold Medal

Gerry Meyer, SCHB α-member, received the American Insti-


tute of Chemists Gold Medal in Philadelphia on May 9th, 2018,
at Science History Institute (formerly Chemical Heritage Foun-
dation) Heritage Day. In addition to Gerry’s award, given were
Bolte Award for Industrial Chemistry, AIC Award, and Othmer
Award in memory of the Founder (and benefactor) of the In-
stitutes. “I am honored to have received the Gold Medal and
to have participated,” said Gerry. The annual event is held at
the Institute’s building at Independence Park. For more infor-

FUTURE MEETINGS
SCHB IN 2019 AND BEYOND
The ACS 257th National Meeting will be in Orlando, FL, from March 31st to April 4th, 2019. The
theme will be “Chemistry for New Frontiers.” It is not too late to organize a symposium, and if you
are interested, contact Joe Sabol program@acs-schb.org. Abstract submission will open August
20th, 2018.
The ACS 258th National Meeting will be in San Diego, CA, from August 25th-29th, 2019. The theme
will be “Chemistry of Water.” SCHB will submit its proposed symposia in December 2018; contact
Joe Sabol if you would like to organize a symposium.
