Architectural
Context
• Eric’s new home is showcasing the Bauhaus
Style and Architecture. The Bauhaus Style was
founding in 1919 in the city of Weimer by
German architect Walter Gropius. The style has
been an everlasting style that has been shown
through out the ages and kept as timeless to
most. The reasoning for this particular choice
for Mr. Neymar is because I felt that is
showcases and represented what he was
looking for when looking for something new.
The space fits the bill perfectly for his needs,
which include entertaining and also for his avid
wine collection. The wine storage room will be a
main focus in the space so that he and his guest
will have very easy access to. The style is going
to be more on the modern size with touches of
softer, more warmer pieces to tie the entire
space together. The colors below will be the
main colors and things will be added to
compliment the colors chosen. The colors
chosen will tie into the heritage of Bauhaus and
compliment very well with the clients needs.
Concept Statement
The overall feel of the space for Mr. Neymer is going to be a clean, modern, and comfortable. I will
achieve this by adding colors that compliment each other, while also throwing in accent colors that
will enhance the space and add character to it. I wanted to pick something from the Nautica
Collection as the color palets offer a wide range of complimentary colors while still keeping the
spaces clean, modern and comfortable. I am choosing some light colors to really made the rooms
flow together and also to make the space feel more open, as there are multiple rooms and spaces
used for different purposes. The colors chosen go with the Bauhaus style and design. The furniture
will be used for different functions but very minimalistic as Mr. Neymer wants built ins for his
design. The furniture will be darker to offer contrast against the light colors chosen. The colors
contrasting with the flooring and furniture choices will go greatly together, the floors chosen will
be a darker bamboo flooring which is durable for someone hosting a lot and also beautiful in
contrast. The hardwood will be throughout the space except in the bedrooms, bathrooms and
kitchen, as the bathroom will have tile along with the kitchen, and the bedrooms will have carpet
for a warmer feel when Mr. Neymer isn’t entertaining and is using the spaces for his time to work
and enjoy his personal time.
Dark bamboo flooring will work in contrast with the Bauhaus style of the building and also
compliment te wall colors of Turtle Grass, followed by Monument which will compliment
moldings and accent pieces, along with neutral tones of Artic Tern and Yacht Beige.

The client will also want to have some of his favorite Soccer Teams Colors, which consist of white, yellow, blue and
green. These colors will be added to the neutrals that are being used in the clients space. This will be shown as he will
have the jerseys up in his office or more personal space where the more personal time will be spent. Dark bamboo
flooring will work in contrast with the Bauhaus style of the building and also compliment the wall colors of Turtle
Grass, followed by Monument which will compliment moldings and accent pieces, along with neutral tones of Artic
Tern and Yacht Beige.

After starting the project, I realized that the furniture I chose was kind of tight for the space, it
worked, but it left very little for the client to move around of have much for him to really
stretch out. I thought about the bed, I wanted to change it to a smaller size, instead of a King
Bed, I am changing it to a queen bed. The night stands still worked functionally with storage
and great space. The Cabinet will be recessed into the wall instead of sticking out to save
space. I will have to re-build some of the floor plan to accommodate it a tad bit. The over all
room worked well and was a lot of fun to really get everything together and see a visual of
what the room can be and will be for the client. I was under the gun to get the final touches to
the project. I had to get the clue dried and everything assembled. Not everything fit perfectly
but under the time crunch it worked out well overall. The window will help a lot with the light,
the bathroom and walk in closet were small in scale but will work when actually built the
correct way. Overall the project was fun and it really showed how sometimes the space we
see visually sometimes don’t always fit, that’s why measuring and planning for the space is
the best.
