Specialty Scissors for Plastic Surgery Procedure & its characteristic

STEVEN TENOTOMY SCISSORS:

-Curved, Smooth
-available in straight or curved
-long handles and small, sharp blades with sharp or blunt wedge-shaped tips
-designed for delicate dissection and cutting
-the long handles allow the surgeon to have a firm grip and control while dissecting or
cutting in small or narrow areas.
-Sharp tips allow precise dissection and cutting of delicate tissue, while blunt tipped
blades are used more often for dissecting and cutting mucus membranes
- use for operations on difficult or small-scale areas, such as the eyelids, lips, and the
brain and urological procedures.

Iris Scissors
-available in both straight model and curve model
-Ribbon style ring handle
-have either curved or angled blades with a sharp/sharp set of tips
-used to remove necrotic (dead) tissue.
-Their fine, sharp scissors are ideal for detailed dissection of fine tissue and fine
suture removal.
-designed to perform eye surgery (hence the name iris)
- because of their petite structure and curved shape they are a good scissor for
beginners to use with dissection.

JOSEPH SCISSORS

-small, delicate scissors used for cutting fine tissues.

-Has smooth edges, sharp/sharp tips
-Available curved or straight
-commonly used in plastic surgery and ENT procedures.

WAGNER SCISSORS

-finger ring surgical scissors most commonly used in procedures requiring delicate or
precise cutting
-serrated blades and sharp/blunt tips

BROWN DISSECTING SCISSORS

-heavy handled dissecting scissors are used in plastic surgery procecedures

-the heavy handle provides efficient grip
-available in straight and curved
-are among the shorter of the dissectign scissor family, and they have narrower
blades then others.

RHYTIDECTOMY SCISSORS

-facelift scissors
-They are used for cutting and dissecting delicate tissue in various plastic surgery
procedures. -they have double edge blades, and, as with other facelift scissors, the
shanks are longer then the blades.
- available straight or curved

COTTLE BULLDOG NASAL SCISSORS

-used in rhinoplasty procedures
- they have short, blunt combined with strong jaws allow the surgeon to maneuver
and dissect tough cartilage.

Aufricht Dissecting Scissors

It has triangular blades, sharp outer cutting blades, 5-1/2" (14.0 cm)
It is a multi-use tool used in a variety of endonasal or rhinoplastic procedures
Available in straight or curved
The triangular blade of theScissors gives the surgeon more control during the
procedure.

Aufricht Fine Scissors

-slender chamfered blades, sharp, 6" (15.2 cm)

- useful in endonasal or rhinoplastic procedures.
-The small profile of the blade gives the surgeon control when dissecting and exposing
delicate soft tissue.

Caplan Septum Scissors

-double-action, serrated, angled handles, 8" (20.3 cm)

-double joint design
-a useful tool in endonasal procedures.
The scissors are specifically designed to incise through tough septal cartilage.
The double joint design of the Caplan Septal Scissors creates increased cutting power
for the surgeon.

Castanares Face Lift Scissors

- round tips
- a heavy-set design perfect for precision cuts through tissue
- available in straight or curved design
-The curved design allows the surgeon to navigate countours efficiently, while the
straight-line model facilitates quick and precise movements.

Cinelli Lower Lateral Scissors

-strong curve, 4-5/8" (11.5 cm)
-frequently used in rhinoplasty procedures.
The curved angle of the blade allows the surgeon to navigate the contour of the lower
lateral nose, while separating the upper and lower cartilage for tissue manipulation
and refinement.
-The angled shanks are designed to reduce physican fatigue during the procedure.

Alar Cartilage Scissors

-curved, sharp, 4-3/4" (12.1 cm)

- used frequently in rhinoplasty procedures.
-The small, curved nature of the blade allows the surgeon to effectively separate the
alar cartilage from the superficial fascia to either trim or modify its contour.
Converse Dissecting Scissors

-straight, ultra sharp, 5-1/2" (14.0 cm)

-an effective tool in rhinoplasty procedures.
The thin, ultra sharp blade allows the surgeon to make quick and effective cuts
around the nasal lip and allows for precise navigation of the nasal curvature

Dorsal Scissors
-blunt tips, straight, 5" (12.5 cm)
-effective multi-purpose tool used in rhinoplasty procedures.
-The blunt tips facilitate dissection and tissue separation of the nasal dorsum with
minimal extraneous damage.
-The straight blade design facilitates quick and precise cuts used to undermine tissue.

Converse Dorsal Scissors

-serrated blades, sharp tip, 6-3/8" (16.2 cm)

- cutting blades are angled anteriorly
-a common tool used in rhinoplasty procedures.
The angle of the scissors allows the surgeon to effectively manipulate soft tissue
around the dorsum of the nose adjusting for the individual's contour.

Fomon Lower Lateral Scissors

-full curve, 5" (12.7 cm)
-effective tool used in rhinoplasty procedures.
-The scissors feature a full blade curvature designed to facilitate movement around
the lower lateral nose.
-designed to trim and reduce the lower lateral cartilage.

Davis Face Lift Scissors

- serrated, curved, sharp tip, short cutting edge ,7" (17.8 cm)

-a useful tool in rhytidectomy procedures.
-The short cutting surface allows for small, accurate cuts.
Freeman Face Lift Scissors

-curved, blunt flattened tips, serrated, open shanks, 7" (17.8 cm)
-its extremely sharp tool used for dissecting tissue during a rhytidectomy.
-The flattened blunted tips facilitates the separation of tissue and minimize unwanted
damage.
-The micro serrations on its blade ensure the surgeon will encounter minimal tissue
slipping during the procedure.

Gorney-Freeman Face Lift Scissors

-serrated, curved, 7-1/2" (19.1 cm)
-it has an ergonomic open shanks design intended to reduce fatigue during an
extended procedure.
-primarily used to quick and precise soft tissue dissection during a rhytidectomy.
-In addition, the curved design allows the surgeon to navigate contours efficiently.

Heymann Nasal Scissor

-blunt, long blade 7" (17.8 cm)

-designed for use in nasal turbinate reduction procedures.
-The long blade allows surgeon access to the nasal concha while the blunted tips
allow minimal extraneous damage.
-The curved design of the scissors allow the surgeon to navigate the nasal aperture
effectively.
McIndoe Rhinoplasty Scissors

-straight, outer edges semi-sharp, serrated, 7-1/2" (19.0 cm)

-semi-sharp outer edges used for dissecting as well as spreading soft tissue.
-The serrated blade helps grip tissue to prevent slipping of tissue during the
procedure

Dean Dissecting Scissors

-blades angled on flat, 1 serrated blade

-commonly used oral surgery instrument for blunt dissection.
- In addition, the scissors can be used to penetrate soft tissue and remove a
pathological mass.
-Serrations on the blade are designed to prevent the dissected tissue from slipping.

Kaye Blepharoplasty Scissors

-Ribbon style ring handle, serrated, 4-1/4" (10.8 cm)

-Designed to separate the superficial fascia around the eyelid.
