The Quest for H2O

A WebQuest

Introduction
There has been a drastic reduction in the supply of water in our local
areas as well as our state, over the past ten years. Using a variety of
materials your mission is to find out about Georgia’s water usage.

The Task
You are a water conservationist whose mission is to discover methods of
conserving water in your home, school and ultimately in your community.
To complete this mission you will need to gain an understanding of the
different uses of water, methods of saving water, warning signs of
impending water shortages and water use habits. Use the resources
provided to discover information concerning theses topics.

The Process
Search the internet to answer these questions about water.
1. Answer the following questions:
a. How much water does the average person use a day?
b. Name the six major uses of water.
c. What three simple facts does someone need to know before he/she
can conserve water?
d. Define Water Shortage Watch.
e. Define Water Shortage Warning.
f. Name five ways that you can save water everyday.
g. Name five ways that you can save water during emergencies.
h. Name three ways to save water when doing laundry.
2. Discover three facts about water that you did not know. Bring these
to class so that we can compile a “Water Facts You May Not Know”.

Evaluation
The grade of your performance will be determined by the
following scoring system:
15 points for completion of the 8 questions
20 points for three little known facts about water

Conclusion
Upon completion of this assignment you will have gained a better
understanding of the many uses and misuses of water in your
home, school and community. If we all do our part in conserving
water, we can help save a valuable resource! Congratulations on
