Introduction

To achieve competency as primary service physician in

accordance with the competency standard set by Indonesian Medical
Council, a gradual and continuous learning is required.
To determine the level of student achievement and ensure the
achievement of the required competencies then it is made a Log Book
(Activity Book) as a guide to the Obstetric and Gynaecology
Rotation. This book is structured on the blueprint of the Department
curriculum, ensuring that everything listed in the curriculum can be
implemented.
This book is a written proof that describes the students activity in
all learning activities in the clinic and expected to encourage and
guide students to learn actively. All recording activities should be
known and approved by the clinical counselor. If the student
performance is not satisfactory then the clinical counselor should
provide feedback in writing and altogether the students determine the
learning plan to correct the inadequacy.

INTRODUCTION TO THE BASIC LOG BOOK

The main purpose of the log book is to help you monitor your
own competence, to recognise gaps and address them. Its
second purpose is to describe the minimum competence level
expected of you at the end of the study in obstetrics and/or
gynaecology.
Each module has specific targets. Every target has an expected
competence level that you must achieve. The level of competence
ranges from observation to independent practice. The following list
specifies what is meant by each level.
Level O Observes Observes the clinical activity performed by a
Clinical Supervisor
Level A Assists Assists a Clinical Supervisor perform the
clinical activity
Level I Independent Performs the entire activity with indirect
supervision of a Clinical Supervisor

Please note that Level O (observes) and Level A (assists)

include the presentation of basic and clinical knowledge,
exhibition of clinical reasoning and identification of relevant
principles associated with the target activity.
Each module commences on a separate page. The pages contain
numbered training targets for the modules. Many of the targets
do not require an assessment of every competence level and
these are indicated by shaded boxes. Trainees can choose
whether or not to tick the shaded boxes as they progress. Certain
competence targets do not require the trainee to be level I
(independent). These are identified by black boxes. Tick off
competence levels as you achieve them. Each module when
completed has to be signed off by the educational supervisor and
trainee.
