To introduce the new curriculum in tertiary level, a forum was conducted on April 4, 2018 which started at exactly 8:00 AM, in CVSC, New Bataan, Compostela Valley.

The Commission on Higher Education has released the Policy Standard and Guidelines (PSG) for the New Curriculum. It was stated that CHED Memorandum Order (CMO)
updates CMO 74 for Bachelor of Elementary Education. Under CMO 75 is Bachelor of Secondary Education. CMO 18 covers the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship. CMO 77 catered the
students with special needs to mold their own uniqueness. CMO 79 covers the Technical Vocational Teacher Education. There is also CMO 81 which covers Bachelor of Science in
Exercise and Sports Sciences.

The new curriculum is patterned with the K-12 program of the government. Some subjects in college from the old curriculum are already offered in Senior High School. This is the reason why the
tertiary level must have a new curriculum which will have General Education subjects different from that of Senior High School subjects, and also it is focused more on major subjects.

Furthermore, the Scholarship Coordinator, Wendy Mae Walles delivered some information regarding the newly signed law by President Rodrigo Duterte. Free Education in accordance with
the R.A 10931 otherwise known as Universal Access of Quality Education.

Nowadays, there has been a rapid increase of technology same as different

websites update their version. Social media has its way where different sites of
information, perceptions, data and information can be easily found, as quick as you ever
wanted. Reading with news can be fun and makes you update the world around you. But
what makes you believe is not true?

Fake news comes in different forms, ranging from total fabrication to distortion of
facts to state-sponsored propaganda to the spread of erroneous content on social media
such as Facebook, Twitter and other websites. This issue seems to be ridiculous and
some individuals are the victim of such fake news that creates tension worldwide.

Some individuals use social media to destroy other’s personal life, these can be a
factor why other users dessiminate information that are not true and everybody believe it’s
true. Due to the nature of social media, it allows some news stories to be spread without
any verification. This brings about the issue of how many people question the accuracy
of the news. Part of the reason why fake news is so rampant is because users find it
convenient to access news on social media channels and there seems to be a tendency to
share the new stories without first verifying its credibility. With the amount of news stories
available on social media sites, it has become harder for users to differentiate between
accurate information and fake news.

It is a fact that readers or viewers are the victims of this deception in the newspaper
or in any websites you visit. As active participant in society, these issue spread around the
world, fake news has its own peak. So, the decision is on us. Don’t share some information
on your account or in different websites that is not true. Make sure that it is verified by going
to reliable sites. Call-out your friends about what they shared. The challenge is on your
hand, regain other’s trust by not posting false information cause one act ruin everything!!

After the Department of Health put into action the plan combatting the Dengue cases we have here in the Philippines during the term of the
late President Benigno Aquino III, it roomed around many controversies and concerns after Sanofi Pasteur the producer of the vaccine announced
that the dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia, could lead to more severe cases of dengue fever that may cause death.
Sanofi’s scientific analysis being deliberated was that this dengue vaccine will ensure safety and efficacy to those who are infected and to
those who are free from the dengue virus yet they found out that “in the longer term, more cases of severe disease could occur following vaccination
upon a subsequent dengue infection. According to Sanofi, the people who are at risk are those who have not been previously infected by dengue virus.
The Department of Health in lead by the Health Sec. Francisco Duque III reinforces threats to folks through reaching different media to spread
out cautions after Sanofi Pasteur’s dengue vaccine administered to more than 800,000 children in the Philippines.
With this alarming case, the new seated administration has initiated to put an investigation team who are composed of expert panel to find out
what’s the best action to do next to surpass this case. Health Secretary Duque said on an interview that they would provide all documents needed by the
Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) as they were putting justice to those who have been vaccinated against those officials who implemented
the now-suspended dengue vaccination program.
VACC is currently working with the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) on a forensic examination and of the bodies of kids vaccinated with Dengvaxia.
VACC lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said they are on the filing a plunder complaint against Garin, former president Benigno Aquino III, ex-budget chief
Florencio Abad, and other DOH officials involved in this program.
The PAO and VACC are doing the investigation independently from the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital, which the DOH
has tapped to review another 14 cases of deaths of children who had received Dengvaxia. Duque said that the DOH will not interfere with this probe and
even offered to help PAO and VACC. “We already told them we would be very happy to cooperate with them because the objective of ferreting out the truth
is the paramount consideration. Our doors are open and if they have a request to us, we would help them. Everything, we’re open. We cannot and we will
never obstruct their efforts,” said Duque.
What is worse is that medical doctors who should be more ethical have made statements that go against the assessment of the majority experts who
say the vaccine is safe and effective if used properly. Forensic experts release results about possible patterns of suspected deaths without telling us that so
many deaths that are unrelated in terms of cause, have similar patterns. They won’t tell the public that a cost-benefit analysis for every technology is the
proper approach. Without a cost-benefit analysis, we wouldn’t be using most of the drugs and medical procedures we are using now.
Other experts spread lies about the way the FDA monitors adverse reactions, how it is properly done and what it means. Those who lie about the
process entails that their political agenda would not be validated if people understood that it is being done properly.
I hope this issue dies down soon. The lies have scared people, wasted resources, and put the public’s health at risk. Often, when people are scared over
one vaccine, they not only refuse that vaccine even if they shouldn’t, they also refuse other vaccines.

I hope someday, true experts would keep faith with their mandates to give people the real information they need to make the proper health decisions and will ensure safety of the public because once there is threat, people wouldn’t think its threat.

the government of New Bataan has implemented the Resolution

community members to clean their surroundings, segregate their

In midst of the implementation of the municipal ordinance, people still throw their garbage anywhere instead

To teach is to inspire!

As Pre-Service Teachers takes into the real-life application of learned methodologies and strategies in
teaching, they are packed with golden learning they have gained during their previous years of schooling in
CVSC- New Bataan.

Last January 22, 2018, 4th year education students were deployed to different public institutions within
the locality of New Bataan. For Elementary Education there were 4 cooperating schools who have welcomed
CVSC-NB Pre-Service Teachers; they are Cabinuangan Central Elementary School, Bantacan Elementary
School, Andap Elementary School, and San Roque Elementary School. For Secondary Education there were
3 cooperating schools which are very welcoming; they are New Bataan National High School, Bantacan
National High School, and Andap National High School.
Practice Teaching is a key component of an extended school experience of the teacher education curriculum which a pre-
service teacher undertakes as part of his/ her elementary or secondary education course. It is viewed by many educators as the
most important experience in the professional education of a pre-service teacher. It is envisioned that during practice teaching,
these prospective teachers will be exposed in all aspects of teaching such as delivery of instruction, management of a class, and
dealing with various types of learners, assisting the cooperating teacher, and doing numerous teaching tasks.

“It is indeed no single day in teaching as an easy one”. This was a statement ought by Jeric Pawin a Pre-Service Teacher in
Andap National High School. According to him, “Whenever he enters the class, it is also like entering a battlefield in which he has
to prepare his self and his weapons. Lesson Plan, Instructional Materials, and Class Records and to note that this is a daily job,
teaching is indeed requires effort and time.”

Mr. Andy P. Cabodoc, School Principal of Bantacan Elementary School gave credits to the administration of CVSC-NB for
choosing their institution to be part of the program and for providing competent Student-Teachers. He said that the performance
of PST’s reflects to the institution where they came and since his PST’s are excellent enough in teaching profession, he proudly
say that CVSC-NB is a quality school to invest tertiary education. He hopes one day that PSTs produced by CVSC-NB will be his
co-employees in DepEd- New Bataan.

Children’s future lies within the teacher’s hands but to think that child’s hands are in good stroke because of teachers
guidance it is a notion that teachers plays an important role to every student that is why practice teaching is not just a subject
alone to enrol with, it is an avenue for every soon-to-be-teacher to explore, learn and embody what a teaching profession really is.

On May 10, 2018, Association of Future Entrepreneurs, the newly recognized organization celebrates Entrepreneurship Day with the theme “Yes to Innovation”. The
program started at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning held at Barangay Cabinuangan Gymnasium.

Students who belong to the College of Business Education were obliged to participate in the said event. In the morning, seminar workshop was conducted and everyone
wore their business suit attire. A resource speaker from DTI, Ms. Leonardelane M. Amistula with her colleagues was invited to share their knowledge to the aspirants. The
purpose is to encourage the Entrepreneurship students to learn more about product innovation, to develop one’s entrepreneurial aspect and to value the significance of
innovation in the real sense of business world.

After the seminar-workshop, the program was resumed in the afternoon at exactly 1 o’clock. To enjoy more of the event, different larong lahi games were played like
tumba lata, finding peso, let me catch your egg and many games which helped everyone to develop their physical aspect and social interrelation. On one hand, product
prototype making were also conducted to test and proved that the Entrepreneurship students were not just Entrepreneurs but innovators as well.

The celebration did not end in the afternoon, since the night was intended for the search of Ms. and Mr. Entrepreneurship 2018. The four pretty and handsome pairs as
they showcase their selves to the crowd were- indeed eye-popping giving the night a blast. Ms. Danica Cahiyang BS Entrep 1 and Mr. Jubil Aresco BS Entrep 3 got the 3rd runner
up, Ms. Leonilyn Lacarion BS Entrep 2 and Mr. Juville Gabatl BS Entrep 1 got the 2nd runner up, Ms. Regine Febrero BS Entrep 3 and Mr. Jeric Parilla BS Entrep 2 got the 1st

BS Entrep 1 got the 2nd runner up and BS Entrep 2 got the 3rd runner up. Though not everyone were declared as champion but still everyone ends up laughing and cheering
each other which is the best quality one Entrepreneur must have.

Once you are an Entrepreneurship student, you have to start small and dream big for your future. Last February 12, 2018, the 4th year Entrepreneurship students finally opened
their business operation as part of the College curriculum. There are eight businesses owned by different proponents namely the ECE-streetfood, Bananamis, Putolicious, P², Kolehiyo
Enterprise, Panagupitan, Bulad Heneral and Bamboo Bugasan.

The program started with the holy mass by Rev. Fr. Edgar L. Tuling, the parish priest of San Antonio de Padua Church who shared valuable thoughts and tips during his homily. After
the mass, the blessing of each stall followed to shower success for the business operation. The said business opening was made through the initiative of the COBE Program Coordinator,
Ms. Jennifer R. Tuba with the guidance of the Dean of COBE, Mr. Ernan S. Leal with the help of the COBE advisers, Ms. Wendy Mae L. Wales and Ms. Maribeth B. Butil.

The program will not be fully completed without the presence of the CVSC New Bataan Campus Director, Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay who was very happy to see the aspiring
Entrepreneurs working together for their future profession.

According to Jerlyn Joy Balbin, a 4th year Entrep student, “To be in the business world is not easy especially
when you are not yet financially stable. You need to start small at first but you need to dream big for your
business to grow. You need to consider the unforeseen events,
so you must ready for it. Whoever says Entrep is an easy
course, well I tell it is not because B.S. Entrepreneurship is a
roller coaster ride course, you need to take all the ups and
downs but in the end it is somehow an instrument to make
people happy.”

How was your experience during the game? When I play there, it
was not a surprise for me that our opponents are really good but even though they
are good, I have to give my very best also so that I can win the game. I did not feel
nervous that time, instead I was pressured.
What are your strategies/techniques to defeat your opponent? I choose to be more focused
on my spins and my servings because in my mind, I know that those were the right things to do. To easily

spend 2-4 hours to study and practice chess as part of my preparation.
