Daily Assignments and Homework:

• All work should be shown for all problems. Be sure you are ready to answer or ask about any questions on the
day the assignment is due.

• Assignments will be checked using a variety of methods. Points are earned by making sure you have your
assignment completed and all of your work shown.

Late Assignments and Make-up work:

• If you are absent for any reason it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. Assignments and other
information will be available to view at marynash.weebly.com

• You have the same number of days to make up an assignment as the number of days you were absent.

completed and prepared for any scheduled assessments.

Quizzes & Tests:

• All quizzes and tests must be done in pencil.

• Quizzes and tests will cover material that has been discussed in class, material presented in handouts, and material
in the book. I do expect you to be able to take ideas from each unit and apply them to new situations. They will
be composed mostly of free response questions, and you will be expected to show all of your work.

• Unless you are told otherwise, all quizzes/tests are closed notes and closed book. You must arrange a time with
me to make-up any tests/quizzes you have missed. If an absence is unexcused, any make-up work will be
disallowed and you will receive zero credit. Calculator memories will be cleared on exam days.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year. We are all here to learn and grow. It is important to keep up with
your work, ask questions, and seek help if you are struggling. I am excited to work with you and to get to know you.

Mathematics is a human activity, a social phenomenon.

It's a set of ideas and concepts that help illuminate the world.
It can be seen in the design of buildings,
the rhythm of raindrops, special effects in movies,
and the social networks that connect us.
And mathematics is all about illuminating relationships,
such as those we see in shapes and in nature.
It's a diverse and multidimensional subject.
It's also a powerful way of expressing relationships
and ideas in numerical, pictorial, graphic, verbal,
and symbolic forms.
So let's, together, introduce students
to this exciting and beautiful maths.
It's a really important thing to do. - Jo Boaler, Stanford University
