Document Analysis Activity: Presenting Guidelines for Using Social Media

1.) The “Overview” section discusses the company’s social-media policy guidelines in terms
of etiquette. In what way is “etiquette” an appropriate word to describe the policy? In what
way is it inappropriate?
The "overview" section discusses the company's social media policy guidelines in terms of
etiquette which refers to a code of professional behaviors among members of a particular group.
This term is appropriate in the way that it intendeds to provide information to the reader on how
to behave online in order to have a safe and respectful environment among professional co-
workers. However, the term can be considered misused in the way that instead of giving ethical
rules with specific code of behaviors among employees on social media, it gives them suggestions
on what not to do on those platforms. I think the term form may be a more appropriate term
considering the content of the paragon. In the way that it is written it sounds like it is giving more
advises than describing the way employees should behave online.

2.) The “What Are Social Media?” section provides little useful information. What other
information might it include to make the document more useful to Paragon employees?
Some information that could be included in this section to make the document more useful
to paragon employees is:
-The fact that social medias could be used for both personal and professional/commercial interest.
-Some examples of social media.
-Some advantages and disadvantages regarding the use of social media o the professional
environment.
-A concrete definition of social media

3.) The bulleted guidelines are vague. Revise any two of them to include more specific
information.
The bullet "be respectful of confidential information" could be revise as follow to provide more
specific information:

"Be respectful of confidential information. This including clients and financial information
regarding the company. We are all aware that if our company wishes to apply for a patent for one
of our products, according to law, we only have one year to do so after the product is first
mentioned or illustrated publicly. To avoid having this time inadvertently start or potential stealing
of ideas, it is important that we avoid revealing unauthorized news about the company. Employees
should feel free to ask superior positions regardless or not it is appropriate to share a particular
information specially on personal social media accounts that may have the access to a wide variety
of audience. Also in this type of account it is important not to live stream or quote from a speech
or meeting without permission. "
Also, the bullet "always be professional, especially when accepting criticism." could be
revise as follow to provide more specific information:
"Always be professional, especially when accepting criticism. Critiques help us all grow as
professional worker. All critiques should be make and be accepted with respect. Regarding this
topic it is important to avoid defamation on social media if one does not share your same opinion
in order to negatively affect the other. It is essential to remember that defamation is a legal term
and it includes written form of statements, as an example, posts and re-posts on social media."
