Present , Past and Future Perfect Continuous
Present Simple (I do, She does..)

 Basically used to express:

 Fact: She is an author. She writes a cooking books


 Habit: She always writes in the morning
 Regular action: She writes two books annually.

+ Positive: She writes novels.


- Negative: She doesn’t write fairytales
? Question: Does she write romantic novels?
Present Simple Continuous (I am doing,
She is doing..)
 A temporary action in progress at present time

 Ex. She is currently writing a new book


(Something is happening right now)
Present Perfect Continuous (I’ve been
doing, She has been doing)
 An action that has already started and still going on:

Ex. She has been writing books for over 20 years


Present Perfect ( I have done, She has
done…)
 A completed action without a specific time in the past.

Usually time expressions require this tense:


so far, already, not yet, just, ever, never, until now, in the last few years.

 Ex. She has already written 40 books


Present Perfect with State Verbs
To be / to have / to know
 I have done replace / I have been doing

Ex. She has been (been being) a writer for 15 years


I have known (I have been knowing) her since 2010

 Note: State verbs doesn’t take continuous tense
