About the Region
Davao Region, located at the southeastern-most part of Mindanao, is one of the fastest
growing regions in the Philippines. It posted its first double-digit growth rate of 10.9%
in 2017, the highest in the region’s history, and even higher than the national growth
rate of 6.7%, with services and industry contributing the most at 49.6% and 39.2%,
respectively.
Considered as Mindanao’s financial and commercial capital, the region has multi-modal
points of entry through land, sea, and air, making it conveniently accessible for trade
and tourism. It also serves as the island’s gateway to the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-
Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and the rest of the world.
Comprising five provinces, one highly-urbanized city, five cities and forty-four
municipalities, the region’s bullish economy is propelled by its aggressive stance to
attract investments in agri production and processing, manufacturing, tourism and
ICT, among others. It also boasts of diverse natural resources including agricultural,
aquamarine, livestock and poultry, tourist spots—both highlands and islands, mineral
deposits, forest areas, and many more.
The region is a prime producer of high-valued crops with high potential. It also
continuously enjoys a boom in its trade, commerce and economy and the commitment
to exert efforts to develop Mindanao as a premier investment destination, with the
region as its frontier.
