BY- LAWS

OF THE MATH SOCIETY

PREAMBLE

We, the Math Major students of Colegio De Sta Teresa de Avila do hereby ordain and
establish these By-Laws to institute a representative government, promote student intellectual,
cultural, physical, social , recreational, and educational functions of the school, maintain consistent
and constructive procedures in all matters relating to student affairs, provide an avenue for assisting
students to achieve fuller participation in their life, and extend the influence and good name of our
College inside and outside the community and around the country.

Article I
PURPOSES
Section 1. Name

The name of this Society shall be MATH SOCIETY

Section 2. Purposes

The purposes of this organization are:

1. to develop and enhance student leadership through recreational activities;


2. to promote, advance, and encourage the subject Mathematics in Education,
3. to establish camaraderie, rapport, brotherhood and sisterhood among students at
all levels and programs in the school,
4. to act as facilitator in promoting extracurricular activities aimed at achieving competency
by participating in different math competitions and,
5. to support institutional programs especially those related to the department concerned.
Article II
MEETINGS

Section 1. Annual Meetings.


1. The annual meetings of the members shall be held at CSTA prior to the set date of Math
Month of every academic year.
2. The President shall render his annual report to the members regarding the activities of the
organization.
3. The election of officers for the ensuing academic year shall also be held during the regular
meetings.

Section 2. Special Meetings.


Special meetings of the members shall be called as the need thereof arises, by the President, majority
of the officers or upon petition of one-third of the general membership.
Section 3. Regular Meetings
The officers of the MATH SOCIETY shall meet forthrightly every Monday at every end of the term.

Section 4. Notices.
Notices of the time and place of annual, and special meetings of the members shall be given either
personally, announced in classes, or/and posted on conspicuous boards at least a week before the
date set for such meeting. The notice of every special meeting shall briefly state the agenda of the
meeting.

Section 5. Quorum.
A quorum for any meeting of the members shall consist majority of the members.

Section 6. Order of Business.


The order of business at the annual meeting of the members shall be as follows:

1. Proof of service of the required noticed of the meeting.


2. Proof of the presence of a quorum.
3. Reading and approval of the minutes of the previous annual meeting.
4. Unfinished business.
5. Report of the President.
6. Election of officers for the ensuing year.
7. Other matters.

Section 7. Voting.
Each member shall be entitled to one vote in person.

Article III
OFFICERS

Section 1. Officers.
The officers of the organization shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor,
Public Relations Officer, Business Manager, Sgt. at Arms and one (1) representative from each year
level and programs.

Section 2. Manner of Voting.


Each year level from Education department shall elect their six (6) representatives who will vie for
key positions. The representatives shall elect through secret ballot from among themselves the
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Auditor. Those not elected for those key
positions shall remain as representatives.

Section 3. Qualification of Officers.


The officers shall be legitimate CSTA students and currently holding a position of officer in the
classroom.

Section 4. Term of Office of Officers.


All officers of the organization shall hold office for one year from their election until their successors
shall have been elected.
Article IV
FUNCTIONS AND POWERS OF OFFICERS

Section 1. President.
1. The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the organization.
2. Shall be charged with directing and overseeing the activities of the organization.
3. Submits to the President his annual report and turn over to his successors all pertinent
documents of the organization after his term.

Section 2. Vice President.


1. He shall exercise all powers and perform all duties of the President during the absence or
incapacity of the latter.

Section 3. Secretary.
1. The Secretary shall give all notices of meeting required under the by-laws and shall keep the
minutes of all the meetings of the officers and members.
2. He shall have custody of the list of members registered and the correspondence files at all
time.

Section 4. Treasurer.
1. He shall have custody of the funds, receipts and disbursements.
2. He shall entrust and keep all moneys and valuables of CSTA student Society to the CSTA
Finance office and shall be accountable for the books of accounts of the society

Section 5. Auditor.
1. He shall take note of the proper utilization and disbursement of the funds to the income and
auditing policies.

Section 6. Public Relations Officer.


1. He shall be in-charge of the dissemination of information to the organization.

Section 7. Business Manager.


1. He shall plan and manage the business within the organization such as fund raising activities
and entrepreneurship for the benefits of the organization.

Section 8. Sergeant at Arms.


1. He shall maintain peace and order of the organization

Section 9. Representatives.
1. The representatives from First to Fourth year level shall directly act as vicars of their
constituents from each level during the deliberations of the officers.
Article V
MEMBERS

Section 1. Qualifications for Membership.


1. All students in the School of Education major in Mathematics, regardless of the number of
units enrolled are legitimate members of the organization.

Section 2. Rights of Members.


A member shall have the following rights.
1. To exercise the right to vote on all matters relating to the affairs of the organization.
2. To be eligible to any elective office of the organization subject to Article III, hereof.
3. To participate in all deliberations of the association.
4. To examine the books of the organization during school hours.

Section 3. Duties and Responsibilities of the Members.


A member shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
1. To obey and comply with the by-laws, rules and regulations of the organization;
2. To attend all meetings of the organization;
3. To pay membership fees to the organization.

Article VI
TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

Termination of membership in the organization takes effect upon expulsion, transfer, and
dropping from the course.

Article VII
FUNDS

Section 1. Funds.
The funds of the organization shall be derived from membership fees, of gifts or donations.
Membership fees are charged to enrollees every enrolment term.

Section 2. Disbursements.
Request for withdrawal of the funds of the organization, whether by check or by any other
instrument shall be signed by the Treasurer, President of the Society, Advisor and Approved by the
President of CSTA.

Section 3. Fiscal Year.


The Fiscal year of the organization shall be from June 1 to May 31 of the following calendar year.

Article VIII
SEAL

Section 1. Form.
The seal of the organization shall be in such form and design as may be approved by CSTA
Administration.
Article IX
AMENDENT

Section 1. Amendment.

These by-laws, or any provision thereof, may be amended or repealed by a majority vote of the
members and by a majority vote of the officers at any regular or special meeting duly held for the
purpose.

Adopted this 02 August, 2018 in CSTA by the affirmative vote of the members representing
a majority of the members of the society in a special meeting duly help for the purpose.
