CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the findings, analysis, and interpretations of data gathered from the

students of MSU-IIT, which includes demographic profile of respondents in terms of age, sex,

ethnicity affliation, college, year level, GPA, monthly allowance and living arrangement. This chapter

also presents the level of their mental well-being and how they behave and manage their problems.

The flow of the presentation, discussion and analysis of data follows the pattern of the study’s

statement of the problem.

Table 1 presents the distribution of respondents in terms of age. From the table,

majority of the respondents are 20 years old (61.9%), 21 years old with 37 respondents

(25.2%), 22 years old with 10 respondents (6.8%), 23 years old with 6 respondents (4.1%),

24 years old with 3 respondents (2.0%) and 25 years old with 1 respondent (0.7%).

are female, that is 134 respondents (63.8%) of the total sample from different colleges and

school of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, We also observed that

out of the 76 respondents (36.2%) who are male.

The table shows the respondents in terms of their Ethnicity Affiliation. Majority of the

respondents are Bisaya, that is 147 respondents (72.1%), Maranao, with 33 respondents

(17.0%), Surigaonon, 8 respondents (3.9%), Ilonggo, 6 respondents, Suba-onon, 3

respondents (1.5%), Manobo and Tagalog, with 2 respondents each (1.0%), Bicolano, Iranun,

Chavacano, Maguindanao, Tausog, Chinese, Kamayo, with 1 respondent each (.5%) and

The table shows the respondents in terms of their Living Arrangement. Majority of

the respondents lived at Boarding and Lodging Arrangement, that is 117 respondents

(57.1%), Home, 78 respondents, (38.0%), and College Dorm with 10 respondents (4.9%) and

Others with 5 respondents (2.5%).


1. In the distribution of respondents in terms of age, majority of the respondents are 20

years old (61.9%), 21 years old with 37 respondents (25.2%), 22 years old with 10

respondents (6.8%), 23 years old with 6 respondents (4.1%), 24 years old with 3

respondents (2.0%) and 25 years old with 1 respondent (0.7%).

In the distribution of respondents in terms of their Year Level, majority of the

respondents are 4th year students, that is 99 respondents (47.1%), 3rd year, 90 respondents

(42.9%), 5th year, 15 respondents (7.1%) and 2nd year with 6 respondents (2.1%).

In the distribution of the respondents in terms of Monthly Allowance, majority of

respondents has 1000-2000 php monthly allowance, that is 53 respondents (30.8%), 3000 –
4000 php, 48 respondents (27.9%), 2000-3000 php, 27 respondents ( 15.7%), below 1000

php, 25 respondents (14.5%), Above 4000 php with 19 respondents (11.0%).

In the distribution of the respondents in terms of Living Arrangement, majority of the

respondents lived at Boarding and Lodging Arrangement, that is 117 respondents (57.1%),

Home, 78 respondents, (38.0%), and College Dorm with 10 respondents (4.9%) and Others

with 5 respondents (2.5%).
