If you wish the upgrade prompt to be hidden from the user, there are two
configuration variables that can be used to control it’s behavior:
CIVIL_UPGRADE_PROMPT_OFF = 1
When this variable is set, it will hide the upgrade prompt and automatically upgrade
the file with no warning (i.e. the upgrade prompt will not appear).
CIVIL_OPEN_OLD_READONLY = 1
When this variable is set along with the previous one, it will hide the upgrade prompt
and open the file as read-only without performing any upgrade.
Note: Both of these variables can be set to any value (i.e. what number is used is of
no consequence).
• No, you do not need to update files that do not contain civil elements (e.g. seed
files, MicroStation cell files, border drawings, etc.).
• You do not need to upgrade all your reference files. Only files that contain civil data
(survey, horizontal & vertical geometry, terrain, corridor, civil cells, etc.) will require
updating, and only when you open them.
For example, if you open a corridor file and upgrade it to SELECTseries 4, you can
still process that corridor even if all the references file remain in a SELECTseries 3
format.

Survey
• Compass
• Crandall
• Transit
• Include/Exclude Elevations
– No Rules
• Creates new instance of geometry with incremented name
• Same feature
• Removes all intervals (gaps)
• Removes all rules
• Point Feature Station Offset Elevation Report - The Point Feature Station
Offset Elevation Report tool creates a report that contains point name, point
feature, station, and offset from selected points to a baseline (MicroStation, civil
horizontal geometry or survey elements).
If you want to review your dependencies prior to importation, you can run
the Corridor Dependency Report against the .ird file.

Data Transfer
• Models
– LandXML
• Surfaces
• Geometry
– DGN, DWG, DXF
• Triangles
• 3D LineStrings
• All of these are just pieces of the model, and the user on the other side
has to continually re-create the missing pieces.
• Reading – OpenRoads can read Integrated Civil i-model’s that have been
modified/created in any application that supports them.
• Change Tracking – OpenRoads can compare Integrated Civil i-model’s and display the
graphical and property differences between them.
• File Fence
– Export to native DGN
• Export to DWG
• Both methods “Uncivilize” the DGN
– i.e. Strips civil data and leaves graphics only
OpenRoads Help
We have separated the OpenRoads help from the legacy help and made it
accessible via Task Navigation.

SELECTseries 4 MR1
Power Overhead Line (PROL) SUE / SUDA
MR2
SELECTseries 4
• SUDA
– Extends on SUE to Provide Storm / Sanitary Analysis capability
– Draws on Haestad analysis and integrates with StormCAD (includes 100 inlet
with OpenRoads) / Civil Storm / SewerCAD / SewerGems depending on
licences
• OpenRoads Enhancements
– Terrain
– Modeling
– Interoperability - i-model / ICM
– Support for Chord definition (by curve)
– Relevant Fixes
• CR Q2 2015
• Linear Templates have been extended to always include external control points for
improved modelling accuracy that was previously only available using full corridor
modeling.
• Design Stage artifacts, Top Mesh and Template Geometry, persists rules regardless
if they are on/off in the Design Stage settings. This is true for both corridors and linear
templates.
• Optimized performance when the base alignment contains B-splines, or when targeting
B-splines elements as corridor point controls and feature definition constraints.
– B-Splines are normally created when you copy parallel geometry that contains
spirals.
• WYSIWYG Publish
– Publish Displayed Attachments Only
– Excellent way to make the files smaller
In order to do this, you will need to set the following CFG variable:
• RSS feeds
• New polygon feature definition type for Catchments, LIDs and hydraulic pond definitions.

• 2D and 3D information
– Graphical and non-graphical (reports, plan
sheets, spreadsheets, etc.)
• Simplified use
– Create lanes using a road template to define the lane offsets and widths
• Will allow the user to select a template from the template library to define all the lanes in
one shot.
– Create super from corridor
• Will allow the user to select a corridor, and select a superelevation xml file. Command
will then create the super section(s) off the corridor’s alignment, create the lanes from
the corridor’s template drops, run the xml super calculations based on default settings in
the xml file, and assign superelevation point controls – (“Easy” button approach)
