Test I – Decide whether the statement is a theorem. If it is a theorem prove it. If it


is not, give a counterexample:
(1) There exists a unique integer n such that n2 + 2 = 3
(2) n2 > n for every integer n
(3) x2 < x for some real number x
(4) There exists just one integer n such that n2 + 5 = 14
(5) Let n and m be integer such that n < m where m ≠ 0. Then (n/m) 2 < 1

Test II– Prove by mathematical induction:

(1) 1 + 1 + 1 + …. + 1 = n for n Є Z+.
