As the Canadian representative of the international Rheinmetall Defence Group, this company offers a wide
range of products to the Canadian defence market. As the center of expertise for weapon stations, provide state
of the art weapon systems to the international defence market.
Director, Weapon Stations
Responsible for profit & loss of the business line and supervision of the management team including project
management, business development and marketing
Main accomplishment
• Optimization of manufacturing activities for ongoing projects (80 M$ budget) in order to reduce production
cycles. Increase by 5% in twelve (12) months of the division gross margin.
• Renegotiation of strategic partnerships of 3 different programs for the French and Belgian Armed Forces.
• Implementation of processes and coordination tools between the business development, the project
management and the product development teams including a Capture Plan approach.
• Implementation of a penetration strategy on 3 years for the Middle-East market based on a coordination of
teams in Canada, Germany and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi).
• Review of the product strategy to have a better focus on the main targeted programs and increase the win
ratio.
• Wrote all contractual agreement templates (service agreement, non disclosure agreement, shareholders
agreement, etc.). Negotiated contractual agreements with sub-contractor and clients.
• Audited a line of software products for the Quebec health system and supported its positioning for the
Canadian and US markets.
• Audited a biometric product technology, its positioning and the proposed business plan for its distribution and
manufacturing.
• Elaborated financial forecasts for five companies based on market analysis (total addressable market and
targeted share), on internal capabilities (sales and operations) and on previous years results.
• Created and coordinated, in four months, the implementation of a senior management dashboard including
sales forecast, operational ratios and HR indicators.
• Provided financial and operational auditing expertise for due diligence reporting before corporate acquisitions.
Drafted letters of intent and shareholders agreements before legal review.
Main Accomplishments
• Business restructuring of the division over a two year period by reducing operational costs and by refining
sales and marketing strategies. 45% increase in sales while reducing costs by 35%.
• Managed four (4) department Directors (Sales, Marketing, Operations & R&D), and eight (8) Project
Managers supervising a team of seventy (70) people (engineers, technicians, technical writer, administrative).
• Established a matrix structure and a Project Management Office (PMO) for R&D and engineering services
projects to improve flexibility and profitability of the division. Implemented processes and tools to improve
SR&ED tax credit claims.
• Successfully integrated three (3) R&D departments, after corporate acquisitions, in order to better control
costs and align product development efforts.
• Implemented a marketing strategy in order to reach growth objectives for targeted vertical markets
(telecommunications, space, automobile, medical and industrial).
• Implemented quotation processes and tools (client needs, costs, schedule, risks and prices) in order to better
control gross margin objectives and improve client satisfaction.
• Implemented a complete set of contractual agreements for engineering services projects. Established overall
negotiation guidelines and boundaries for the sales team in order to reduce sales cycle.
• Implemented a complete set of licensing agreements for a software product line including shrink wrap,
distribution, resell and escrow licensing.
• Developed a management dashboard (Key Performance Indicators) allowing monitoring of the business
restructuring progress and the definition of corporate objectives.
• Successfully supervised, during eight months, the legal procedures required to submit a Commodity
Jurisdiction Request to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) of the United States in order for a technology designed
by Mindready to be removed from the US Munitions List.
