Planning information GE 150

Planning information
The compact Intercom Server GE 150 combines different functions of modern communication such as
Intercom, information and control in one system.

Range of application
The GE 150 is a cost-effective Intercom Server in a compact format – ideal as a stand-alone solution for
small sized applications, including full support of 20 analogue 4-wire Intercom stations and modules.
In a design that is compact enough for wall mounting, the GE 150 Server offers proven Commend In-
tercom functionality, including integrated door/gate control and alarm functions, call forwarding to a
telephone network by using a telephone interface, etc. Via licences, both the Intercom Server and ex-
pansion cards can easily be upgraded to a fully-featured GE 300 Server which offers additional and
proven Intercom features, like the integration of digital and IP subscribers.

Expansion

Additional components
For the start-up of the Intercom system, additionally the following components are required:

Subscriber card G15-GET-4B

DSP subscriber card for connection of up to four 4-wire analogue subscribers with feature level “B”.
Up to five G15-GET-B cards can be used with a GE 150 Intercom Server. Every single card provides an
audio bandwidth of 16 kHz and enables OpenDuplex® conversations in 7 kHz.

Subscriber card G15-GET-4B

Telephone interface card G15-TEL

Multi-functional telephone interface for connecting the Intercom system to an analogue subscriber of
a telephone system or directly to a standard telephone line. Telephone mode for direct dialling of the
desired telephone number from an Intercom station. Auto-dialler mode with automatic dialling of free-
ly programmable dialling sequences initiated by calls or call requests. Freely configurable speech stor-
age for acoustic identification and messages (e.g. waiting information) in dialer mode. DTMF-tele-
phones can operate functions in the Intercom system (e.g. once a call has been received on e.g. a re-
mote telephone, all “after dial” functions are available)

Telephone interface card G15-TEL

Input/Output card G15-8E8A

Plug-in card with eight inputs for floating contacts and eight relay outputs (normally open, normally
closed or switch-over). Detection of 5 operation states with inputs (Idle, Active 1, Active 2, Short, Line
break).

Licences

With licences the functionality of the Intercom Server and the plug-in cards can be expanded (see
”Licensing” on page 17).
 These components must be ordered separately according to customer requirements.
 Please make sure all required components are at hand before beginning with assembly.

 Connect the PC for configuration with a network cable directly to the Intercom Server (“Uplink” port
of G15-GEM) or with a switch in the network.
 In a network the Intercom Server and the PC must be in the same subnet.
 The Intercom Server is automatically advised an IP address during initialization
(see ”Configuration of IP network settings” on page 16).

NOTE: Connection PC and Intercom Server

To set up the connection between PC and Intercom Server (menu Intercom Server > Connection

1.1/0116 15
Configuration CCT 800 GE 150

Initialization
With an initialization of the Intercom Server, the entire server configuration is reset and an IP address for
the G15-GEM is generated (this is required, if the CCT 800 configuration is carried out via IP (Ethernet)).

1. Menu Intercom Server > Initialize

2. In the field Current Server-ID the current Server-ID is displayed. In the field New Server-ID the desired
number is entered and taken over with initialize.

ATTENTION: Server ID “1”

Always use “1” as Server ID for the GE 150!

Initialisation of new Server-ID

As soon as the number is transmitted it also appears in the field Server-ID.

3. Receive the configuration of the Intercom Server (menu Intercom Server > Receive, in the area
Receive all Intercom Servers must be visible). Now all cards are correctly recognised and the
Intercom Server can be configured as usual.

Configuration of IP network settings

Auto-configurkration of the network
When a GE 150 is initialized, an IP address is automatically generated for the G15-GEM:
G15-GEM

NOTE: Call numbers allocated dynamically

The call numbers are allocated dynamically. If subscriber cards are added / exchanged at a later time,
the next available call number range is allocated!

Licensing

Upgrading the GE 150 to a GE 300

The GE 150 Intercom Server can be upgraded to an GE 150 Intercom Server by software licences.

NOTE: Further information

For further information about the upgrade (like e.g. required licences, benefits etc.) see datasheet
“GE 150”..

ATTENTION: Upgrading to GE 300

When upgrading the GE 150 Intercom Server to a GE 300 Intercom Server, it is mandatory to also
upgrade every single plug-in card!

In the following sections, the general licensing process (for all available licences) is described.

General
Via licences additional features of the Intercom Server, plug-in cards and external software products
can be activated. These licences are protected against misuse via a hardware assisted system.
With CCT 800 and an active internet connection the licences can be administered with ease. If no inter-
net connection is available the activation can also be carried out at a later moment via a website (see
page 25).
Per ordered licence, one licence sheet is delivered.

COMMEND SOFTWARE LICENSE

Thank you for choosing this quality software product from Commend.
As this software is protected by the latest security measures, you
will need to complete an Activation process before it can be used.
Detailed information can be found in the Intercom Server Installation
Manual supplied with your system. You can direct any queries to
your local Commend Partner whose contact details can be found at

1.1/0116 17
Licensing GE 150

Advantages
 From each card type only one version must be ordered on stock
 Only the card with the lowest feature level is available (description of feature level see manual
“PRO 800”)
 This card is then upgraded via the licence
 Activation of the licences via internet with the central licence server
 Manual activation without internet connection is also possible (see page 25)
 Licences can be deactivated and transferred to other Intercom Servers
 Licences can be activated and deactivated up to 15 times (for transfer to other Servers)
 Not allocated licences can be saved in files and licence pools and therefore be exchanged elec-
tronically (e.g. per eMail)
 Easy entering of the licence code in CCT 800 and on the website with 2D barcode scanners
(e.g. Metrologic MS 1690)

Terminology
The following terms are used during the licencing procedure:

Licence key
E.g.: T170-100-142577008-027
(Product-ID-Run-Licence code-Check sum)
 Is printed on licence sheet
 Contains licence code and checksum
 Is not allocated to a specific Intercom Server

Activation code
E.g.: T170-0815-1508-1147-4711-0815
 Is generated as soon as a licence key is allocated to an Intercom Server with serial number
 Is only required when no internet connection is available during CCT-configuration

Deactivation code
E.g.: T170-4711-0815-4711-0815-4711
 Is generated by the Intercom Server (G3-GEM) and is required to deactivate the licence at the licence
server. After deactivation and release at the licence server the licence can be allocated to a different
Intercom Server. This increases the generation number by 1 step.
 Is only required when no internet connection is available during CCT-configuration

Generation
Licences are valid for 15 generations. After that the licence becomes invalid.
The following actions increase the generation number:
 One activation
 Moving of a licence to a different Intercom Server
 The licence is deactivated and re-activated internally
 When a licence is moved within an Intercom Server the generation number is not increased
(see ”Card Area” on page 21)

The Licensing Process

The following example shows a typical licensing process

Example licensing process

1. Receiving of the serial number of the Intercom Server  Allocation of the licence key to the serial
number of the Intercom Server in CCT 800 (see page 24).
2. CCT 800 sends licence key and serial number to the licence server
3. The licence server calculates the activation code and sends it back to CCT 800
4. CCT 800 sends activation code to Intercom Server  licensing process complete
The licensing process depends on the two following factors:
 CCT 800 has or has no connection to the internet
 CCT 800 has or has no connection to the Intercom Server

1.1/0116 19
