1 GENERAL
1.1 SCOPE
This document covers the Analysis of Super Structure of Module mounting
structure.
1.2 UNITS OF MEASUREMENTS
Units of measurements used in analysis shall be of SI Units.
The following codes and references have been referred: for the design of
Module mounting Structure.
Code of practice for the design loads for buildings and structures-

Load Calculations
Dead Load
Size of solar panel = 1956 mm x 992 mm x 35 mm
Solar panel is kept at an inclination of 20 degrees.
Weight of single solar panel = 22.5 kg
Force due to one solar panel is 22.5*10 = 225 N = 0.225kN
The dead weight of the modules acts in vertically downward direction.
Force per meter on Cold form C-channel = 0.225/(2*0.992) ~ 0.113kN/M
Wind Load
The structure is designed for Vb = 41.66 m/s
Design wind speed = Vz =Vb x k1 x k2 x k3
1. K1 (Probability factor) = 0.91
Please refer section 5.3.1; Table 1 of IS 875(Part 3).

Pressure Coefficient:
For calculating the force on the panels form the pressure calculated above we need Pressure
coefficient. The current structure falls under mono-slope free roofs. Please refer IS-875 Part-3,
section 6.2.2, Table 7.
o The pressure coefficients for a mono-slope free roof of 5 Deg tilt angle.
o 0.9 When wind is trying to lift the structure.(FOR 5 DEG. VALUE)
0.5 When wind is trying to push the structure. (FOR ALL ø VALUE)

Total Downward force due to wind = Pressure coefficient x pressure x exposed area =
0.41kN/M
Total UPWARD force due to wind = Pressure coefficient x pressure x exposed area
=0.744kN/m
Pressure Coefficient
_ For calculating the force on the members from the pressure calculated from the above, we need
pressure coefficient. All the members fall under individual structure members of infinite length.
Please refer section 6.3.3.2, Table 26
_ The pressure coefficient for the C section is taken as 2.05
Force per meter Calculation
_ Force on the member normal to the plane of section is Pressure coefficient x pressure x breadth
of the member.
Force in –Z direction:
Force on Column = -0.13kN/m
Force on Rafter = -0.13kN/m
Force in +Z direction:
Force on Column = +0.13kN/m
Force on Rafter = +0.13kN/m
Force in +X direction:
Force on Column = +0.08kN/m
Force on Rafter =+0.08kN/m
Force in -X direction:
Force on Column = -0.08kN/m
Force on Rafter = -0.08kN/m
