Keurig Dr Pepper and KaBOOM! Award Illinois Ability Sports Let’s Play Construction Grant
Havana, IL (August 4th, 2018) - Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) and the national non-profit KaBOOM! awarded Illinois
Ability Sports a Let's Play Community Construction Grant that will be used in part to purchase and install
playground equipment for Havana Junior High School.
‘The playground build is made possible by Let's Play, an initiative by KOP to provide the funding, equipment and
play spaces to help kids and families make active play a dally priority. Through Let's Play, KDP and its partners are
committed to helping create safe and inspiring PLAY ces for Havana kids to learn, explore, grow and just be kids.
“This will be such a beautiful addition for the Havana CUSD #126 Students and surrounding Communities to ensure
play is a vital part of everyday.” John Lorek, Executive Director of Illinois Ability Sports.
llinois Ability Sports and Havana Superintendent Matt Plater, have agreed on an equipment design that will cost
$50,000 when fully installed. The project will include a concrete pad with a rubber protective base layer and an
obstacle style course that students can complete. It will be installed behind the Havana Junior High School. This
$15,000 KaBOOM! grants the first step toward completing this project. We are hoping to win other grant and
Charity awarded funds to help us complete the project this school year.
KDP has committed $38.5 million to Let's Play through 2019, impacting youth-serving organizations across the
USS., as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, Through Let's Play, KDP partners with two non-profit
organizations, KaBOOM! and Good Sports, to build and improve playgrounds in underserved communities and
provide grants for sports equipment. In this way, KDP is doing its part to help eliminate the play deficit by making
active play possible for more kids.
