An argumentative research paper is a type of writing in which it requires the


student to investigate a topic that has two reasonable sides. The topic is supported by
collecting and evaluating evidences; and establishing a position on the topic in a brief

2. What are the differences between an argumentative research paper and an expository
essay?

The difference between an arp and an expository essay is that in expository it


focuses more on factual statements than on debatable claims while in arp, it focuses on a
topic that has two reasonable sides and was supported by concrete evidences, accurate
opinions, analysis and personal insights. Opinions or beliefs can’t be comprehended in
expository essays while in arp, opinions are allowed as long as it was supported with
research.
