FREE Health Checks - continued for a
limited time
FREE WorkHealth checks will continue to be
available at The Sanctuary for a limited time. All
employees and contractors are eligible to have a
health check. Participation is voluntary and each
participant’s results will remain strictly
confidential.
What does a WorkHealth Check involve? Each
health check will take approximately 15 minutes
and include:
• a short health & lifestyle questionnaire
• a check of your blood cholesterol and
glucose, blood pressure and waist
circumference, and
• immediate results and advice.

Emergency evacuation drills
Emergency evacuation drills will begin from 2pm
26 July 2010. Each BOH area will be addressed
progressively, and over the next twelve months
all BOH will have undertaken an emergency
evacuation drill.
Please be advised that these emergency
evacuation drills are practice drills only.
The purpose of Crown’s emergency evacuation
drill is to improve operational capability and
emergency preparedness by testing and
practising plans, procedures and personnel.
When directed to evacuate, all persons will:
• commence evacuation immediately
• follow all instructions of the floor/area
warden
• leave the area via safest, closest exit unless
directed otherwise
• assist other personnel, as required, and
• proceed to nominated assembly areas and
remain there until directed otherwise.
It is expected that delays and issues will occur.
Issues will be used as improvement opportunities
to ensure our plans and procedures are practical.
A schedule of all evacuation drill dates can be
found under Health and Safety on the Intranet.
A separate schedule for FOH areas will be
released in the near future.
Either John Clampett or a Health and Safety
Advisor will meet with the wardens the week
prior to the drill to discuss the procedure.

ID’s refurbishment update
From 10am Mon 19 July, until the ID’s
refurbishment is completed in early October
2010, Santé will be used exclusively as Crown’s
staff restaurant.
During this time all usual meal entitlements will
apply, meals will still be available 24/7, swipe
access will be required and ID’s non-swipe area
will remain open.
Also on 19 July, the temporary smoking balcony
will close and the original smoking area will re-
open.

NAIDOC week celebrations
You can join in the celebrations for NAIDOC
week (a week about the history, culture and
achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples) by eating at ID’s from Mon 12
July - Sun 18 July.
Food and Beverage have joined with renowned
Aboriginal Chef, Mark Olive, to create a modern
Aboriginal themed menu for ID’s which includes
lunch and dinner.

New People Leader Award
On 1 July 2010, Crown introduced the People
Leader Award. Crown is proud to announce that
the People Leader Award is a permanent addition
to the Rewards and Recognition Program and will
be awarded quarterly.
Supervisors, team leaders, assistant managers
and back of house equivalents that supervise or
lead others as part of their job and consistently
demonstrate inspiring leadership, service
excellence and an interest in development are
eligible for the People Leader Award.
Any Crown employee can nominate an eligible
colleague.
Nominations for the first People Leader Award
will be accepted at the end of September 2010
and will be celebrated at the newly combined
People and Service Leader lunch. All recipients
will go into a prize draw to win a trip to Las
Vegas, or one of three $1000 travel vouchers.
