Tissues, body systems concepts

(Place this assignment under semester 1 on your website)
1. What are the four main types of tissue? The four main types of tissue are
Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nervous.
2. Tattoo’s are below what type of tissue in the human body? Is it a good idea
to get one? Tattoo’s are below the epithelial tissue in the human body. It is a bad idea
to get one because it is cutting into your tissue and is permanent
3. What is the difference between tendons and ligaments? Tendons attach the
muscle to the bone while ligaments that hold bones together at the joints.
4. Compare the 3 types of muscle tissue. Cardiac, smooth & skeletal. Cardiac
muscle tissue is found in the heart and is involuntary, Smooth muscles line the walls of
blood vessels and certain organs and is involuntary, finally Skeletal muscles attach to
the bones and causes movements in the body and is voluntary.
5. Name and describe the 10 body systems. Which two provides energy to the
8 body systems? Provide images for each body system. The 10 body systems
include: The Skeletal System (Attachment for muscles) Muscular system (Support,
Protection, Heat) Circulatory System (Blood, oxygen flow) Lymphatic system (stimulate
immune system, produce lymphocytes) Respiratory System (Transport and exchange
oxygen) Digestive system (Produce energy, digest food) Integumentary System
(Regulates temperature) Nervous System (Process info, relay info) Urinary system (rid
toxins) and the Endocrine System (Controls all body functions, glucose)
6. Name three diseases associated with the skeletal system, muscular system
and nervous system. Three diseases with the skeletal system include; Rickets,
Fractures, and Bone Disease. Three diseases with the muscular system include;
Cerebral Palsy, Muscular dystrophy and Compartment Syndrome. Three diseases with
the nervous system include; spina bifida, Huntington’s disease, and Parkinson’s
diseases.
7. What is the strongest bone in the body? Where are the weakest bones
found in the body? The strongest bone in the body is the femur and the weakest
bones are found in the ear.
