retirement of Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis and the
migration of Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Subscription
customers to Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis Professional
2014
1. What changes are being made to the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis (RSA) portfolio?
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis software is being discontinued.

2. Why is Autodesk making this change?

Following the technology acquisition on January 5, 2008, Autodesk introduced Autodesk Robot Structural
Analysis software (RSA) as a lower-priced companion to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional
software (RSA Pro). At the time, RSA addressed the lower end of the market and served as a path to migrate
legacy customers to Autodesk technology, which has now been completed. In addition, competitive factors
have driven more users to the Pro version, and the Autodesk Structural Analysis 360 for Revit” service has
driven more focus on RSA Pro as an advanced analysis tool. Discontinuing RSA also supports the strategy of
driving towards Suites and Simulation 360.
A further benefit to Autodesk will be reduced costs for development, maintenance, and operations.

3. What GEOs are affected by these changes?

RSA will be retired globally.

4. What is the migration strategy?

• All active RSA Subscription customers will be autofulfilled free of charge (others go through
upgrade/crossgrade manual OE process) with Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2014
at FCS. The RSA Pro software will be provided to customers under existing subscription terms without
additional fees.
– Contract is updated few days before FCS
– New “migration SKU” will be created and added to AutoFulfillment tool.
– Active RSA subscribers will receive RSA Pro 2014 automatically via autofullfilment at FCS
– Customers will receive subs renewal invoice for RSA Pro cost at natural expiry of RSA subs
contract.
• Primary strategy is communication to Field, Channel, and existing Subscription customers.
• Note that Resellers may not disclose this information to customers prior to Autodesk communication directly
to customers

5. How will current Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis subscription customers be impacted by these
changes? Active subscribers will be automatically fulfilled to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional

2014. Upon Subscription renewal, customers will becharged the published Subscription renewal rate for
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional, which may be higher than their previous Subscription cost.

6. How will Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis non-subscription customers be impacted by these
changes?
No direct impact.

7. What is the retirement date for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis?

RSA will be retired at FCS of Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional.

8. Is Autodesk offering Previous Version use rights for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis to active
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional Subscription customers?
No

9. Can Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis customers submit a request for late renewal and still benefit
from the migration offering?
No

10. Is there an upgrade path from Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis to Autodesk Robot Structural
Analysis Professional 2014?
Yes there is upgrade pricing in straw-man
