MINUTES:
 The President called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.
 General grounds report by Andrea McCarther
o Previous issues have been fixed:
 Water has been restored to the gardens
 A missing hose was replaced.
 Straw was delivered per someone’s request.
o The following are approved but need to be scheduled with Brightview:
 HS trying to create isolation areas for water (regional areas) but there are a
limited number of isolation valves which can be installed so the gardens will not
have their own isolation valve.
 Work will be done to reduce the water pressure in the garden area hoses.
o New issues:
 The gardens need temporary water during extended outages. Brightview will
provide large containers of water (e.g., barrels) if there is an extended water
outage. HS will purchase the containers and Brightview will be instructed to
keep them filled.
 The grassy/weed borders in the garden area need to be maintained.
 The garden trash cans do not appear to have liners.
 Treasurer’s report by Vern Broz
o The club balance is about $550 with a few outstanding bills to pay such as the plant the
Garden Club donates for the HS Arbor Day event.
 Greenhouse report by Ken Kleinert
o Parts have been ordered for the coolers; e.g., valves, bearings. Pads have not yet been
ordered.
o Ken researched pads and made recommendations which include screens.
o Chris Churchwell will perform a functional test with Ken when all repairs have been
made.
 Other
o Delores reported on the results of the Garden Club web site questionnaire. See
Attachments. Results were generally positive so the website will be maintained. At a
future date, the Club can pursue becoming a part of the larger, overall HS website.
o Delores distributed a draft trifold on the Garden Club which could be used at events to
promote the Club. The Board should review and provide input. The trifold and new
member packet will be promoted at the HS Arbor Day event.
o Vern reported that Wally Reed will staff the Garden Club table at the Arbor Day event.
 The President adjourned the meeting at 10:55 am.

NEW ACTION ITEMS:

 Andrea McCarther: Isolation valves to be installed in the irrigation system thereby reducing the
number of water outages at the gardens.
 Andrea McCarther: Reduce the water pressure in the garden area hoses.
 Members: Do not turn water valves on or off. If there is an issue, report it to the Front Desk so
that Brightview can assume responsibility for fixing the problem.
