LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

It is a pleasure to strongly recommend Mr. Utkarsh Pradhan for the Master of Science degree program at
your esteemed university. I have known Utkarsh for the last 3.5 years of his undergraduate studentship in the
capacity of Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of
Technology- Calicut, India. As the guide for his Major project– “Design and Development of Miniaturized
Crank Driven Stirling Cryocooler for Main Battle Tank and Imaging Cameras” in his final year, my
interaction with him gives me enough information to assess the skills and knowledge which he has acquired
during this period.

Utkarsh is highly motivated, hardworking, dedicated and determined to succeed in his engineering career. He
has actively contributed to technical discussions and has shown great interest, aptitude and capability. He
carries a strong understanding of fundamentals coupled with an ability to quickly grasp and comprehend new
concepts. He has strong mathematical and analytical skills that are reflected in his work and his consistent
performance in academics, a CGPA of 8.29 reflects his strong academic potential. Utkarsh works with
diligence and enthusiasm as a part of the team. Performing most of the computational analysis and coding for
the project, his contributions to the project have been exemplary. He has helped foster new ideas within the
group demonstrating creativity and imagination. He is a student who will work very hard towards the
fulfillment of any responsibility he undertakes.

He has got excellent oral and written communication skills. As an active member of the group he is able to
clearly express his ideas, motivate group members and contribute to discussions interacting very well with
everyone in the group. I have really been impressed by his presentation skills and his thoroughness in
preparation during the project evaluations. He also has an unquestionable aptitude and motivation for
graduate studies. With impressive academic know-how, competence and commitment for research I am not
surprised by his decision to pursue a career in research.

Well organized, Utkarsh has been successful in maintaining a balance between his academic endeavors and
extracurricular activities. As an individual, he has always been a self-motivated student and has displayed
excellent character and conduct. I strongly believe that apart from technical skills, his personal qualities, his
positive attitude and desire to excel have been instrumental in his achievements to date and make him an
excellent candidate for graduate studies in your esteemed university.

I am sure the exposure will bring out the best in Utkarsh and he will contribute to research activities in the
university with a keenness to learn and enthusiasm to explore new avenues of technology. For this I wish
