Students’ memories

My flight in Galicia
I have just finished my Erasmus plus in Spain, exactly in Galicia, in the
north west of the country. On Sunday 22nd October,I left Italy, I was so
excited but also frightened by my first flight. It was my first time abroad
and I will not forget it!

The great week started with the welcoming ceremony held at Pobra do
Caraminal school. The Spanish students and their families, teachers were
very nice. I had family accommodation and I stayed with Angela Rey
while my school friend Francesco stayed whit Pablo Garcia. I felt like at
home! Interesting guided visits let us know amazing places: Barbanza
peninsula, a place we liked a lot with its remains of settlements from the
Iron Age; the Castro de Neixon, an important fortified town. We had also
a sightseeing town in Pontevedra where we were shown the inventions
from the medieval times to modern age. In Santiago, we admired a lot of
churches, such as S. Francisco do Val do Dens, a Franciscan monastery, as
well as important buildings, for example the Medicine College, the hostel do
Reis Catalicos with its gothic structure, the Pazo Raxo which is the Town
Hall and the Fachada do Obraidoro, in baroque style. But the highlight in
Santiago is St James’ Cathedral, famous all over the world because it is the
final destination of one of the oldest pilgrimage route in Europe; a lot of
people travel there on foot, by bicycle, on horseback.

Galicia’s economy is based on fish and we ate a lot of excellent seafood,

above all mussels. We visited the Massò Museum where a guide told us
about the ancient objects about fishing, displayed there and the history of
the Museum.

Another important visit was of CIPS Coroso, a vocational school where

students learn about food processing and their preservation. The
Catamaran trip was amazing, well... we enjoyed a lot; on Friday we
visited Boiro, a city near the coast, we had lunch there and in the evening
we had the farewell party at “Terrazza de Chicolino”: great fun! Songs,
dances and local food! Bye bye Spain! Thank you! I come back home on
Saturday 28th. See you soon !
