1920-1930
DRUM KITS
AND
DRUMERS
The classic drum kits in the 1920-1930 are
usually based off of nature and sometimes
have paintings on the base drum. Also some
drum kits in the 1920s had snad paper for a
percussion instrument. In the 1930s the
drum kits had a lot of Chinease
instruments including a Chinease cymbal,
tambourine, and tack head tom tom. The
1930s drum kit also included a small
double wood block witch was somewhat
common for kits in its era.

1920-1930s

The drummers of the 1920-1930s were


mostly jazz drummers and there were
not alot of them being that drumms
just were invented. Gene Krupa was
GENE KRUPA the first drum star of the 1930s and
was a jazz drummer. Baby Dodds was

1940-1950

The drum kits in the 1940s didn’t have
many hardware changes but had less
paintings on the base drum. The drum
kits stopped focusing on nature for the
style and had more plain and focused
colors. The music changed a lot during
the 1940s-1950s for example rock and
roll came out in the 1940s-1950s and
caused incredible revolution in the
history of popular music.

The drummers of 1940s-1950
mostly consisted of jazz drummers
like 1920s-1930. Baby Dodds and
many other jazz drummers from the
SONNY GREER 1920s-1930 were still alive and still
played in bands. Also there was

The drum kits of the 1960s-1970 had a
shiny luster and a blend of differant
shades of colors into a magnificant
stripe pattern .The differant types of
drums in the kit were like ther ones in
the 1950s but had more differant types
of drums on them.
Popular Drummers
1960-1970s
Most of the drummers born in the
1970s are still alive today. Some of
them are dead but were famous at
thier time. Most of the dead ones
were jazz. The alive ones are rock
and pop. Simon Phillips is a rock,
BUDDY RICH
pop, and jazz drummer that is still

The drum kits of the 1980-1990s had alot
of drums connected to them. The drums
were colored fairly normally. The drum
kits back then were very similar but were
set up differantly then the ones today.

The drummers in the 1980-1990s


mostly consisted of rock or jazz
and are still alive today. They
wrote alot of songs and are fairly
popular.
