THEORY: CARE, CORE AND CURE
by Lydia E. Hall
 THE CARE
• The nurse provides care to the patient to have fast recovery and to achieve
desired outcomes.
 THE CORE
• Involves the use of self as a nurse in communicating with the patient. The
nurse and some social support helps the patient clarify motives and goals
to improve health and self care.
 THE CURE
 Aspect of nursing involved with administration of medications and
treatments.
 Seeing family through the medical care may give strength to improve the
patient’s health and may influence the patient’s self care behaviors.
