Restrict Trip Mode Basic Guide

GuideGuideModule
The MODE pushbutton on the HMI panel allows the device “Control” mode to be set to either Local or Remote. When in Local
mode, controls can only be executed locally and when in Remote mode, controls can only be executed by remote applications.

The exception to this is an Open control, which can be executed locally or remotely, independent of the device “Control” mode.
The user can now restrict this by enabling “Restrict Trip Mode”. When “Restrict Trip Mode” is enabled, if the device is in Remote
Control mode, local trip (or Open) commands are blocked and if the device is in Local Control mode, remote trip commands are
blocked.

“Restrict Trip Mode” can be set via Logic and SGA.

To configure “Restrict Trip Mode” via Logic follow the steps below:

1. In CMS, ensure you are Online with the relay.

2. Upload Settings from the relay.
3. Copy uploaded settings to the device in CMS.
4. Configure one of the available logic channels so that “Restrict Trip Mode” is turned on by a valid condition e.g. when
the OSM is connected.
5. Save settings and download it to the relay. Check the Change Log to ensure the new functionality is activated.

Note: All communication interfaces including I/O and communication ports can be configured as either Local or Remote. As such
control commands issued through any of these ports may be classified as Local even though they are issued by a remote
application.
